How do you post pictures for problems on brilliant?

I have been trying to add pictures to questions that I make but for some reason it won't work. Can someone give me an idea of why it won't work, please?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Same here! When I try to click on "Attach Image", it doesn't even have a link, like my cursor doesn't change from an arrow to a finger. Do you have a Mac? I do, and I suspect it's what makes it happen.

I do have a Mac, but I actually use my iphone to post problems and get into my account on this website. Plus the picture attachment worked for my most current question so I guess I'm okay, for now.

@Finn Hulse That was a pretty good question. ;)

You should get a popup box like so (This is done in Firefox on a Mac.)

Image Image

If you do not see this, please provide me with more information (OS + Browser), and we can look into it.

Of course, another approach is to use Markdown as I did above, where the code is (without spaces)

I browse with Safari. When I click "Attach Image", it treats it the link like a regular bit of text. Will using MarkDown work only for an address, or can it be for a file? And does it automatically display the picture?

@Finn Hulse Thanks. We will look into Safari + Mac.

Using markdown will only work for a web address. If you have a file, you can upload it to Imgur, which would happily host your image. As you can see, that's what I did in my example. The picture is automatically displayed. Give it a try!

@Calvin Lin Sure! Thanks!

@Finn Hulse We believe that the issue is because you have an old version of Safari, and are fixing the bug. In the meantime, if you want to upload images, please update Safari to version 6 or higher, or use Firefox or Chrome.

@Calvin Lin Yup, it's a really old Mac, but I can't download Safari past 6. :\
