How Does A Brilliant User Start

When a user joins Brilliant, he/she takes certain tests with ONLY 4 questions each. How can such a short inspection be enough to ascertain the Level of the person? What is the maximum Level you can begin with? After these 4 questions? How long does it take to get to Level 5?

Level determination is an ongoing process, and changes over time based on your ability to solve the given problems.

The maximum level that you can start with after the diagnostic quiz is 5.

The time it takes to get to Level 5 is highly dependent on the person. Some may never reach it.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I also wanted to know whether you could allow users to continue trying answers even after their three tries have been used. You don't have to award us points for correct answers, but I would like to continue trying to get the answer to a question. Thanks!

Sounds like you want to try all numbers from 1 to 1000 (or all real values in the case of Physics), so I'd say no.
