This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

How much are you expecting ?? @Pranjal Jain

Karan Siwach - 6 years, 2 months ago

What about Maths and Chemistry ?

Sandeep Bhardwaj - 6 years, 2 months ago

They were much better. Though I felt the exam was lengthy a bit. I mean I had to guess 2-3 questions in the end, while I don't have much bad speed.

Pranjal Jain - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Pranjal Jain Okay. So, If you would like to share, how many marks are you expecting ?

Sandeep Bhardwaj - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Sandeep Bhardwaj Let Resonance/FIITJEE/any other reliable sources' answer key be uploaded

Pranjal Jain - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Pranjal Jain Okay. How many question did you attempt in each section ?

Sandeep Bhardwaj - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Sandeep Bhardwaj I attempted 90/90

Pranjal Jain - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Pranjal Jain How much u r expecting to be corrected ?

Karan Shekhawat - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Pranjal Jain Please tell how much are you expecting ??

Karan Siwach - 6 years, 2 months ago

Totally agree with you dude.

Kunal Joshi - 6 years, 2 months ago

I attempted everything in maths and chem. But I left 3 questions in physics. For me, physics was very difficult compared to the kind we encountered in the model papers. I should have prepared better. Chemistry and maths were very easy, but I have made 2-3 careless mistakes in each(or so I think). Overall, I think it could have gone better, but I'm quite happy with it nonetheless. Hope advanced is better.

Raghav Vaidyanathan - 6 years, 2 months ago

Means 300+ ?

Karan Shekhawat - 6 years, 2 months ago

Thats pretty awesome, not a single left in math and chem

How much expecting?

Also @Deepanshu Gupta how was urs?

And @Shashwat Shukla as well

Mvs Saketh - 6 years, 2 months ago

It was okayokay but I'm disappointed with physics going downhill. I made careless mistakes and a couple in maths as well...

According to the resonance answer key I'm getting a total of 303.

I'm happy with getting a full score for chemistry(really hadn't seen that coming). But, as I said, I'd be happier if I hadn't messed up easy questions in physics and math out of carelessness.

@Mvs Saketh

Shashwat Shukla - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Shashwat Shukla Your score is very good. @Mvs Saketh is getting about 298.

Rajdeep Dhingra - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Rajdeep Dhingra Yea, I saw his score on the other thread. This might become a bit inconvenient with everyone posting on different threads.

Shashwat Shukla - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Shashwat Shukla That is indeed good , 120 in chem, perfection. I just hope cbse doesnt have any contradictory views regarding any question as i cant see my mark fall further down

Yes i too am pretty dissapointed with the careless mistakes i have done in math and phy. It has cost me much

Mvs Saketh - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Mvs Saketh Thank you, and good work on your part as well.

And yea, hope CBSE doesn't change answers. That would be bad.

Shashwat Shukla - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Mvs Saketh I want to ask something about the question based on the force on the solenoids, I know that the NET force on inside solenoid is 0 but isnt the force radially outwards. Please help friends.

Ronak Agarwal - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Ronak Agarwal If Net force is 0, then you cannot specify its direction anymore (null vector has no direction),

truely what you can say is that the force is radial on each element and on the whole it becomes 0, but since the net force vector was asked and it has 0 magnitude, hence it has no direction. ( it is too some extent i believe a matter of definition, we want a vector to have a fixed direction and a fixed magnitude, radially outwards is basically every direction )

Mvs Saketh - 6 years, 2 months ago

Waiting for Deepanshu's reply!

Congratulations Ronak ,Shashwat and Mvs Saketh. Brilliant's top scorers in MAINS. :)

Sorry if I missed some one.

Karan Shekhawat - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Karan Shekhawat I am expecting 176/360,I messed up a lot in physics (solved only 15 out of which 8 were correct). Also chemistry went bad (68/120) and maths was lengthy (83/120).I think I will be preparing very hard for the advanced exam.

Akshay Bodhare - 6 years, 2 months ago

Maths section is quite easy. Its of lower level than expected. !!!

Sandeep Bhardwaj - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Sandeep Bhardwaj Sir what do you say about Maths ?

Karan Shekhawat - 6 years, 2 months ago

You're right, I don't mind. Go on...

Sandeep Bhardwaj - 6 years, 2 months ago

Maths was very easy! But physics was a bit tough! Maths was a little lengthy so I was left with little time for physics... I'm expecting around 220, can that be considered good? Cause I'm not satisfied...

Satyam Bhardwaj - 6 years, 2 months ago

what about Answers by institutes ? Do anyone knows any link ? Please then Post It ! @Krishna Sharma @Raghav Vaidyanathan @Pranjal Jain

Just wait for some time. I'll upload a note soon with question paper and answer keys.

Pranjal Jain - 6 years, 2 months ago

My attempts:- maths - 24 physics -21 chemistry -26 maths was lengthy for me and thus i got too less time for physics.

ayush Gupta - 6 years, 2 months ago

This years physics was kind of horrible! It was really lengthy as compared to last years paper. Maths was also lengthy. Chemistry was the easiest of the three. Didn't expect that CBSE would set such tough paper .

Kunal Joshi - 6 years, 2 months ago

@Rajdeep Dhingra It entirely depends upon you, whichever you prefer.. Its also peoples belief that the online paper is usually easier to promote it.. but i actually dont know if its the truth.

Harshvardhan Mehta - 6 years, 2 months ago

Maths was easy but a bit lengthy

Physics was bad

Chemistry was awesome !!!!!

(for me)

Sir can u please explain the meaning of your status.?

Gautam Sharma - 6 years, 2 months ago

"Desolation" means a state of destruction or emptiness. Once a king ordered to kill every person in the town for maintaining the peace. So in the absolute frame, he created desolation , but he called it peace. Hence it is a great ironical situation. @Gautam Sharma
