THE   POSTS   COMMUNITY   LOVED\large \mathbf{ THE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ POSTS } \ \ \ \mathbf{ COMMUNITY } \ \ \ \mathbf{ LOVED }

From problems to solutions, from notes to wikis, these are the posts that were highly appreciated by the whole community. Here's your chance to have a look at what captured our attention for the past month:

A) Popular Notes:\textbf{A) Popular Notes:}

  • We all know that many students on Brilliant are IIT-JEE examination aspirants and all are curious to learn about other's JEE preparation, answers to various questions regarding JEE preparation, doubts, etc. With that in mind, Brilliant user Aniket Sanghi created Target IIT-JEE (Chat Room) for those all looking forward to the exam.

  • Love learning interesting and astonishing facts? Visit Interesting fact guide shared with us by Dev Sharma

B) Huge Events:\textbf{B) Huge Events:}

C) Contests:\textbf{C) Contests:}

D) Popular Problems:\textbf{D) Popular Problems:} Brilliant is true to its name and thus is always full of brilliant, intriguing problems which attract many people and force them to like them. Almost every problem on Brilliant is interesting in its own unique way; hence, it was hard to select only a few popular problems:

  • The Maximized Slope This calculus problem is very elegant and generalized with very less information which often challenges the people.

  • Hardest Multiple Ever! This number theory problem is uniquely symmetric and is quite intriguing to solve.

  • Are these related at all? This geometry problem at first looks very weird, but its has a very tricky solution ;)

  • Traversing an icosahedron This combinatorics problem is not among the ordinary ones and has a geometric beauty as well.

  • Don't be confused! This algebra problem is not among the similar ones with expressions xn+1xnx^n+\dfrac{1}{x^n} but there's a twist in what it asks for.

  • Inspired by Rajen Kapur Ever thought of a perfect square starting with the year 2016? Try that question to find it out!

  • Juggling with Danger This classical mechanics problem is quite tricky and tests the concept at its best.

NEW   AND   ACTIVE   MEMBERS\large \mathbf{ NEW } \ \ \ \mathbf{ AND } \ \ \ \mathbf{ ACTIVE } \ \ \ \mathbf{ MEMBERS }

As time goes on, more and more people join the community. Some of them are very active in contributing to the community by posting problems, solutions, wikis, notes, and pretty much everything else to the point that we should honor them as hardworking members. Let's give a round of applause to Aniket Sanghi, Abhay Tiwari, Karleigh Moore, Mateo Matijasevick, Samara Simha Reddy and Vishwathiga Jayasankar .

WHO   TO   FOLLOW\large \mathbf{ WHO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ TO } \ \ \ \mathbf{ FOLLOW }

FUN   TIME\large \mathbf{ FUN} \ \ \ \mathbf{ TIME }

The newsletter is about to end now so let's end it laughing hard with a joke:

An engineer and a physicist are in a hot-air balloon.
After a few hours, they lose track of where they are and descend to get directions.
They yell to a jogger, "Hey, can you tell us where we're at?"
After a few moments the jogger responds, "You're in a hot-air balloon."
The engineer says, "You must be a mathematician."
The jogger, shocked, responds, "Yeah, how did you know I was a mathematician?"
The engineer replies "Because, it took you far too long to come up with your answer, it was 100% correct, and it was completely useless."

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Why there is no "Activity" area in our profile now, where we could see what questions we and others have done recently. Earlier it was there but now it has been removed. And particular reason why it has been removed? It was really helpful to me.

A Former Brilliant Member - 5 years, 1 month ago

I agree seeing the activity of our competitors helps us to gain where we lag in front of them. It was a great to check our progress with respect to other members.I really miss the activity feature.Can we have a particular reason why it went missing?

neelesh vij - 5 years, 1 month ago

If x,y,z are 3 unknowns connected by only two indendant liniar equations and a third condition that they are all integers; can we find the solution? how?

Narayan Damle - 5 years, 1 month ago

Cheers for @Paul Fournier,@Mehul Arora,@Geoff Pilling,@Paola Ramírez,@Sahil Bansal and Aditya Sharma!

Great note @Nihar Mahajan!!!But I felt your name was missing in the Top Solution Writer's section :(

Glad you liked the note :)

Also, since this new section was introduced by me in the newsletter, I kinda felt I should not promote my own name since there are many other better solution writers than me.So, I did not put my name :P
