I just got back on Brilliant after a while and just purchased a year-long subscription to Brilliant^2. Does anyone have any information on the percentile ranks they give you?

Like what population are they comparing us to? The whole community or just within a certain age-range?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

Good question! I believe it is your percentile rank on Brilliant among the whole community.

Do you have any opinions on ways to make that rank more fun or useful to you?

Thanks for the answer. That's what I figured it was. I wondered if it was compared to an age group or the whole community. Thanks! It is a great feature to see how you compare against other users.

Also, it's strange that my level 3 rank in algebra and in calculus put me at the 97th percentile. Is there really that few amount of users in level 4 and 5?
