I Want more Ribbon!!!

Suppose u take a long ribbon and wrap it tightly around the Earth at its equator.For this,u require a ribbon 40,070 km long.now u raise the ribbon from the surface of the Earth by 1 m.How much more ribbon would u require?Remember,the ribbon is raised not at one point on the Earth,but all around it equally.choose your answer: a: more than 1000 km b: more than 5000 km c: less than 10 km

the answer is C and the precise answer is 0.00628 km(pi=3.14)

6.28318 km is my answer, so the answer is c

Explanation: You take 40070 and divide it by pi(i used 3.14159) and get 12754.687912

and you add 2

so you get 12756.687912

and you multiply it by pi

and you get 40076.28318

subtract 40070

you get 6.28318

First of all, you should be adding 2 m, not 2 km. Secondly, the answer is independent of the radius of the earth, making it the same for all circular object in the universe. Neat huh?
