IIT Special doubts

Hi, my AIR in JEE ADV is 1560.

I wanted to know whether IIT Guwahati is good or not. As I heard from my teachers, it's the only college from India ranked among the world's top 100 engineering colleges (I don't know on what basis); and from my friends, the atmosphere is not quite good; I'm just puzzled!

And one more question.................

Which of the two courses should I choose:

Mathematics and computing
Electronics and electrical engg.

(both are in IIT Guwahati)

2nd one .. and your rank is quite good soyou can go another iit, delhi or kanpur are better then guwahati

I don't think that guwahati is the top ranked in India....having said that...how about engineering physics at Delhi...my AIR is 1822 and I'm planning to pursue it....following my keen interest in physics....(anyway IIT Delhi is the top ranked institute in India right now...)

Actually, I don't have much idea about Engg Physics. Can you give some idea about it? I mean course details, placements, etc.?

See, EP is a kind of theoretical field of physics...it includes field like quantum physics, optics , semiconductor and all those... I had a chat with this person yesterday...he is pursuing EP at Delhi ( IIT)since there is a major chance of me ending up with a decision for further studies...hence it feels suitable for me... Now from the job point of view....he said, just on the basis of EP jobs are a little on the harder side but still available... But if you combine this with a minor in another field, say c.s. or electrical....your chances for jobs increases manifolds.... For further knowledge you may have a look at the EP page on Wikipedia....

My teacher suggested me to go for electrical engg at IIT Roorkee. Is it a better choice than IIT Guwahati?

Hi, First i want to congratulate you over your success, it might be too late to answer your confusion but for the sake of other's ease let me explain- I am a PG student at IITG, as much you heard i heard too before coming here, but reality is completely different, even the atmosphere is very favourable for a student as in comparison to other IITs , profs are very much helping , students interaction is so easy and many more. Climate is awesome also, as Guwahati is between the hills. And most imp thing is its on you wheather you go to Mathematics or EE. For placement opinion wise you are asking surely it's EE and then Mathematics.

Hey buddy I would suggest 1st option becoz mat and comp Branch is awesome I want to tell u another thing plz don't mind first plz check this branch is available for u r rank becoz comp and sci is closing in500 in top 6 reputeded iits and another thing I check top 20 India's engg colleges in tht 1st is kanpur 2 nd is Delhi 3 rd is kharagpur 4 th is roorkee and 5 th is madras and then bits and vit

If u can make it to delhi roorkee or mumbai ... it is good ... but if not then go for electronics and electrical engineering at iit guhati
