Images in Problems II

I am once again having trouble adding images to my problems. The formatting suggested to me in the comments of my previous note about this,

![alt text](https://imgur.com/whatever.jpg)

no longer seems to work.

I've tried the "Attach image" link in the lower left, but I can't get the image to appear anywhere in the preview. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work now. Help!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

They seemed to have removed the ability to use the markdown links. If you use the attach button it works fine although it cannot be seen in the preview. As soon as you have posted your problem it will show up properly.

So wait, do I need to use the markdown image link AND the "Attach" button? Or just the button? Where will the image appear? Do I have any control over that?

Nope -- they are separate features.

  1. Attach will simply put the image at the top of the problem/note. We may add more fine-grained formatting abilities in the future.
  2. If you need to control where the image shows up, use Markdown. I just tested the ![alt text here](link here) method, and it works. If you are still having issues, can you send me a link to the problem that is broken?

@Silas Hundt Will do...

@Silas Hundt Well, it worked, but only after I hit "Publish". In other words, it did not appear in the "Preview". (It would be nice if it did!)

Thanks!

@Matt Enlow Yeah—we are working on that... there are some technical hoops that we haven't found the time to jump through there yet.

Hi Matt --

  1. I'll look into why the markdown method is failing right now.
  2. The image preview doesn't show the image (yet) because at that point we haven't uploaded your image, so there is no way to preview the image :( We will make this more in the near future.
