Is Brilliant the right place for the beginners striving to learn?

Hey there everyone, I am very new to this website and even intense independent learning as well. I was brought here to this site by a Quora post and so far it looks incredibly appealing to me. The problem for me, however, is that I am not sure of the potential of Brilliant for those who are are unaware of many of the basic principles of mathematics.

For example, I participated in the activity to qualify for skills here and was already stumped by Prime Factorization as I could not figure an efficient method to do it. I decided not to grind out the answer because I knew I wasn't familiar with the concepts.

To sum it up, is Brilliant just a really good outlet for practicing certain aspects of mathematics as you learn them, or is there a learning section hidden here that I am missing?
