Lanyard use for?

I say thank you very much for the prizes, the lanyard, (I received it yesterday). But, when I was taking that, I don't know what the lanyard use for.. My friend said that the lanyard can be used for nametag. I just want to know, what another function of the lanyard? Especially for study or anything..
