Hello Friends, its been a long time since I was last active at Brilliant. Actually it was before my JEE exam, and after that i just could not find enough time and inspiration to solve problems. However that inspiration is slowly starting to creep back in, and i am sure now I will be more active than I was before. I just want to tell you all that I am currently studying Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay, the most prestigious and famous technical institute in India. Life here is completely different from how you would imagine it to be if you are an aspiring IITian. The level of intelligence of most of the students here is too damn high ! This leads to a lot of competition in academics. One tends to think that IIT Bombay will be all about acads and that students dont have a life. He could have been more wrong. Life@IITBombay is awesome! The talent of students just shocks you. One finds it difficult to understand how a student could be that good in academics and let's say dance or any other activity. I know a student who was in the top 30 all over India and he is a National Level Table Tennis player. Another friend is a very very good dancer and also rocks in academics. Be it Culturals or Tech or Sports or Social services, one always finds very talented people. It is true what they say " IIT Bombay changes you in ways you cannot imagine ! " . I just feel very lucky to be a part of this institution and be among the creme-dela-creme of students in India.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Sir this line - "Having a group of friends who are passionate in different activities which they excel in, can be a strong source of inspiration and motivation". Here it seems that you had a mesmerizing and interesting mathematical journey. I think you learned a lot from your friends circles and whenever you failed in a task they inspired and motivated you.
Can you please share some stories of your past experience and mathematical journey. It would be really very interesting to know.
Thank you ! and sure, 3-4 people from IIT Bombay are already on Brilliant!

The talent in IIT-ians is not because of the rigorous IIT-JEE entrance examination, but in spite of this. Remember physical chemistry, ugh. And nobody in the world is thinking of modifying the archaic syllabus with times. That is some legacy.
Studying in IIT bombay is my dream. Congratulation @Avineil Jain . Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences. This note has inspired me.
Is it better to take computer science in any iit? or to take any subject in iit bombay which has better placements??.. i m an jee aspirant for jee 2015....

That depends on one's perspective. Hence, it is better to evaluate what u want and go for it
Hey, Congrats @Avineil Jain
I wanted to ask that did you did coaching for IIT and did your friends in IIT did , because I am hearing a lot that it is practically impossible to cracking it without any coaching guidance.

Yes me too tips for the last few months
For Physical chem, practice a lot of quality objective questions. Subjective Questions may be referred for concepts. For physics, practice Irodov(a must), also buy the solution manual coz without it its useless to solve problems. DC Pandey may be referred for some problems(subjective ones are really good) For maths, again practice a variety of questions.

Iitb civil! Well, best of luck for it! Just study hard, balance JEE along with boards, such that more portion of JEE is revised. Solve numericals that test concept so your concepts for boards are also revised . there is enough time between each exam in boards , just chill! And I am sure I will se you this year in IIT Bombay!

What's you jee AIR Anvineil .
He is in IIT-Bombay so it is sure his rank would be under 600.
Its Avineil not Anvineil! :P a pro tip, dont ask AIR from a person who has given Advanced, coz it doesnt matter after you have gotten into college!
