Math

I'm from Malaysia and had graduated from high school. But i didnt learn much about Math at school because they only teach the very basic Math.I dont really understand the problems in this website. I really likes Math and I wonder is there any website that can teach Math? I mean more advance Math rather than just the basic...by the way I only passed 2 questions on this websites and i'm really disappointed with it..... Anybody can help me ?

Hi Amad,

Don't feel too discouraged about getting problems wrong on Brilliant. It happens to most of us all the time (myself included). That is why many of us like it. Brilliant is not an exam, it is not school. There is no passing vs. failing a problem on Brilliant. Your solutions are either correct or incorrect, but unlike school or an exam getting a problem right or wrong on Brilliant is the beginning not the end. Concentrate on enjoying the thought process of problem solving, and incrementally learning new tid-bits. With practice you will get more and more questions right. The lasting value and pleasure of doing math is not measured in the number of problems you correctly solve, but in the habits of mind you cultivate while pushing your mental frontier.

In the near future we will have problem sets that give you more control over how easy or hard your problems are, what types of problems you see, and give you more prompts as to what concepts are required in each of the problems. These prompts will hopefully help many on the site to ask the questions that allow them to teach themselves harder mathematics. Brilliant is a work in progress and we aspire to one day be a place where a person can show up knowing the "basics," and through exploration discover realms of more advanced math.

The internet is an information paradise. Finding resources to learn from and researching answers to your questions is usually fairly easy. The really difficult part in learning independently on the web is knowing what questions to ask, and where to begin. In my opinion this is particularly true of math. Until you hit a critical mass of exposure to math, it is often extremely hard for even very smart people to imagine what is beyond the frontier of their understanding in math. Brilliant is designed to show most people math that is beyond their understanding. It is our hope, that showing people what the frontier of their understanding looks like will help them better explore it.

Get a good and basic reference book,like if you like to read Indian books then go for Pre-College Mathematics, best for basics....
