**Mathematical verse of the week**

Drawing Inspiration from @Satvik Golechha's SOTW (Status of the week), I've decided to start the MVOW competition.

As a sample verse, read this to get an Idea-

If a triangle has no right angle ,
And the area needs to be seen
Multiply half by two of the sides
And the sine of the angle between

. Rules and Regulation:

\bullet-You must post your verse as a comment below for it to be a valid entry

\bullet-The contest opens on 19/10/2014 (4,50 P.M) and ends on 26/10/2014(GMT+5.5) (4.50.P.M)

\bullet-The winner of the competition will be decided based on Number of Upvotes-Downvotes only.

\bullet- The verse must have something to do with Math

\bullet-The verse need not be original, but if it is please add that- You get Brownie point.Original verses will have the upper hand in case of a tie. They shall also be awarded Brownie points(Brownie points indicate my upvote on your comment. That is, I would upvote only original verses :) )

\bullet-English is the only accepted language.

\bullet-Only one entry per person is allowed.

\bullet-Like and Reshare this note so that this reaches a large audience. Don't forget to participate in this too.. Enjoy

\bullet-Results will be announced by 27/10/2014 (7 p.m.)-(GMT+5.5)

(EDIT)\big(EDIT)-Winners would be decided based purely on number of upvotes since certain verses are receiving far too many downvotes

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Who is the King of the Mathematical terms?

The Mathematical T-Rex

The one who can withstand any differentiation

Is the one and only, exe^x

Although i am cubed and squared,

But nothing much in me to add,

Other natural numbers make my fun ,

But remember i am the number "1"

Palash Som - 6 years, 7 months ago

It's original :

You will never wish to have me ,

Because I am nothing .

But something important I have ,

And that makes me everything .

Not able to still get me ?

Root me , square me , cube me for a game ,

Double me , triple me or halve me now ,

But shall you obtain everytime the same .

Never mess with me ,

Because I have great ability ,

I still , till today leave mathematicians perplexed ,

One of the last to be discovered , such great is the dignity .

I make enemies and who mess with me ,

Multiply them to make them like me , I confess ,

Some people are there , no enemies or friends in need ,

So , I add and subtract them to let them have their value indeed .

I do have like others have some best guys , who are liked by me ,

I divide myself from them to obtain infinity , you see .

Eleven's my friend ,without it's predecessor , shall never exist ,

Until there was somebody like me to subsist .

I am defferent from others in the universe ,

My power to myself is not possible ,

Not negative not positive , not imaginary nor complex ,

Call Mr. or Monsieur IMPOSSIBLE !

There are still many mine problems to be solved ,

Many uncovered secrets involved ,

I am , of the numbers , a great HERO !

Always remember me , I am important , I am ZERO !

Yeah , I just put my head on it . Actually it was not a effort or hardwork , it was just fun . Try it yourself.

Original verse:

Everyone saw me as a negative one,

and immediately thought that they were done,

But then they suddenly square rooted me,

and now i'm sadly just imaginary.

Verse #1

The meaning of life?

A question for you,

It's not that hard,

It's 42.

You said it had to do with Math.

@Krishna Ar You can check wikipedia. You will find the article on 42 very interesting.

The path of love is never smooth
But mine's continuous for you
You're the upper bound in the chains of my heart
You're my Axiom of Choice, you know it's true

But lately our relation's not so well-defined
And I just can't function without you
I'll prove my proposition and I'm sure you'll find
We're a finite simple group of order two

I'm losing my identity
I'm getting tensor every day
And without loss of generality
I will assume that you feel the same way

Since everytime I see you, you just quotient out
The faithful image that I map into
But when we're one-to-one you'll see what I'm about
'Cause we're a finite simple group of order two

Our equivalence was stable,
A principal love bundle sitting deep inside
But then you drove a wedge between our two-forms
Now everything is so complexified

When we first met, we simply connected
My heart was open but too dense
Our system was already directed
To have a finite limit, in some sense

I'm living in the kernel of a rank-one map
From my domain, its image looks so blue,
'Cause all I see are zeroes, it's a cruel trap
But we're a finite simple group of order two

I'm not the smoothest operator in my class,
But we're a mirror pair, me and you,
So let's apply forgetful functors to the past
And be a finite simple group, be a finite simple group,
Let's be a finite simple group of order two
("Why not three?")

I've proved my proposition now, as you can see,
So let's both be associative and free
And by corollary, this shows you and I to be
Purely inseparable. Q.E.D.

Ye gore gore gaal....

*Ye tikhi Tikhi Mazre,22)2\sqrt{2}) *

Its just ordinary subject without beats,

I make it solvable,

And also justifiable

Iam zero

But in maths i am the hero

The Square Root of Three (Harold & Kumar: Part Two)

I’m sure that I will always be A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right, Why must my three keep out of sight Beneath the vicious square root sign, I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick, with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321 Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see, Another square root of a three As quietly co-waltzing by, Together now we multiply To form a number we prefer, Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued Your love for me has been renewed
