Mistakes in solutions

If we spot a mistake in a solution, what is the method to correcting this? I'm new to Brilliant and spotted an issue in one of the solutions due to a typo.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

If you find a mistake in an answer to a problem, you can report the problem from the menu available at the top of the problem. Or if it is something in a solution, you can leave a comment for the author to check out.

Hi Scott,

For problems in Explorations or Topics, you can report the problem with your reasoning, and Brilliant Staff will be informed and look into it.

For problems written by the community, if you believe the answer is incorrect, you can report the problem with your reasoning, and the problem creator will be notified.

For a solution written up by the community, you can comment on it indicating what is wrong. Here is a phrasing that you could use:

This is a good start, however your explanation has (assumptions, a gap, a slight error, a calculation mistake, typos). The issues are:
