Need of new subjects on Brilliant

It has been a long time on Brilliant after signing in and i found that sometimes i am able to solve only some problems which leaves me unsatisfied because every week i eagerly wait for a new problem set. I know many of u must be feeling the same need.....

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Hang in there!

Next week we will have problem banks that will not be on a weekly schedule that will hopefully allow you to never run out of problems (unless you solve a mountain of them).

Does this apply to only Math or both the subjects?

Pranav Arora - 8 years, 2 months ago

Very EXITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hi Garvil,

I just wanted to warn you that it will arrive next week, but it might be Tuesday not Monday. I just don't want you to panic if it's not up on Monday. The regular Olympiad problem sets will rollover as usual, and our new Technique Trainer with expanded problem banks will arrive as soon as it is ready.

Oh, O.K., one day will seem to be a long long time but the longer we wait , the better is the result.

Garvil Singhal - 8 years, 2 months ago

Will that question bank include physics as well?

Saurabh Dubey - 8 years, 2 months ago

I AM EAGERLY WAITING FOR MONDAY

Shubhabrota Chakraborty - 8 years, 2 months ago

New things makes us Brilliant Thanks Peter T Sir !!!

Yash Kumar Gupta - 8 years, 2 months ago

thnk you brilliant!! you all are really doing a great job!! like everyone I am too really eager for the question bank

A Former Brilliant Member - 8 years, 2 months ago

Peter Sir,could you please explain me what is meant by the problrm sets will not be on a weekly basis.

Soham Dibyachintan - 8 years, 2 months ago

Certainly,

It will become more obvious when it is up. Currently, our Olympiad problem sets are on a fixed weekly schedule, and they are a surprise sampling of atypical problems within broad categories. We think that the surprise curation, unconventionality, and the time limitedness of these problem sets are part of what make them really fun.

We have been made aware that there is a strong desire for more basic practice problems of a range of difficulty to help people practice for school/tests and possibly help people improve on Olympiad problem sets. For this reason we made the "curriculum math" categories of Albebra/Trig and Calculus.

A few weeks of the algebra/trig problem sets led us to believe that when practicing basic skills, the format of a surprise set of problems that expires weekly is not ideal. People should be able to choose what they want to practice, ignore what they are already good at, and preferably see how simple problems they practice are related to concepts required in the harder Olympiad problem sets.

For this reason there will be a technique trainer feature that will cover most of the topics in "Core" mathematics. These will include summary pages with a brief explanation of something like "discriminant of a quadratic-equation," and then lots of practice problems that utilize the discriminant etc...There will be many categories, and not all of them will have explanation pages. But basically it will allow you to browse a very large bank of basic problems that never expire, organized into categories.

Peter Taylor Staff - 8 years, 2 months ago

Sir, will there only be Algebra &Trigonometry, Calculus and olympiad mathematics or more topics would be added....can't wait!!!!!

Advitiya Brijesh - 8 years, 2 months ago

Then too I have a question. Will Curriculum Math will be added plus this question bank the next week. If it's so , than we (atleast me) are never running out of questions.

Garvil Singhal - 8 years, 2 months ago

So the new changes to the problem banks will not affect the Olympiad mathematics problems?

That's good. I like looking forward to new problems every week in those categories.

In addition, will this affect physics as well, or will that subject continue to have problems on a weekly basis?

David Altizio - 8 years, 2 months ago

WE WILL BE HIGHLY GRATEFUL IF YOUR ABOVE ACTIVITY IS HAPPENED!

Subhrodipto Basu Choudhury - 8 years, 2 months ago

great thought.... can't wait!

Snehdeep Arora - 8 years, 2 months ago

Sir means from this week !! Awesome huhuhu am gonna enjoy !!

Yash Kumar Gupta - 8 years, 2 months ago

can't wait. :)

Manoj Pandey - 8 years, 2 months ago

yes waiting for a week for a new set of problems makes me angry sometimes as i can't earn points

Hari prasad Varadarajan - 8 years, 2 months ago

CAnt wait am feeling boring !! Sir please hahha MOnday come fast

Yash Kumar Gupta - 8 years, 2 months ago

come on, Brilliant. I can't wait..

Andrias Meisyal - 8 years, 2 months ago

U R R8! THERE SHOULD BE PROBLEMS FROM STATISTICS!

Subhrodipto Basu Choudhury - 8 years, 2 months ago

Well, if you people are going to add some more sections then what do you think about an IQ section?

Nabeel Vohra - 8 years, 2 months ago

IS there a need of that particular thing !!!

Advitiya Brijesh - 8 years, 2 months ago

I don't think it is needed. Cause, the current Problem sets have such difficulty that there is no need of other material like the IQ section for Exercise of Brain!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rushikesh Jogdand - 8 years, 2 months ago

I think IQ tests are quite silly. There is no need to measure ones intelligence by a number.

Brock West - 8 years, 2 months ago

Brilliant is for "Science And Math" dear.

Pratik Acharya - 8 years, 2 months ago

cool idea. But again, IQ tests are a collection of string of topics. What kind of stuff would you want under an IQ section?
