New Logic Topic

The logic skill map is up.

Remember to "Add topics" to get it to appear in your list.

Ratings/Level:
You will need to answer 10++ problems in the logic topic, before you get a level.
Ratings are also subject to change over the next few weeks.
They currently do not appear on stats page.

Posting problems:
You can post problems in Logic. Use the skill map to guide you on what are suitable puzzles to pose in Logic.
You can set levels for them, once you obtain a level in Logic.
I will be aggressively curating this topic, and several problems may be moved out of the logic section. In particular, we are currently not allowing for troll questions or word puzzles.

Wiki pages:
I would appreciate help in developing out the Logic Wiki pages. Most of them are currently blank, which is why we had a Weekend Wiki Party to get them started. Let's focus on the skills in the Puzzles page first, though of course you are welcome to edit any Wiki page.

Future improvements:
There will be updates and changes over time (like the rest of the Brilliant site). As we see more activity on these problems / wikis, we will be able to expand out further. So, if you want to see more, the easiest thing to do is add Logic challenges and Wikis!

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

  • The Section "Propositional Logic" should be replaced with "Formal Logic" and the sub-section "Predicate Logic" should be added to it.

  • Why not redirect Tautology and Truth Table to the existing wikis from "Logic Gates" and "Propositional Logic"?

  • Compression is not a Logic Puzzle. I do not see why those problems are categorized as compression

  • While "Grid Elimination" could be fun, they soon turn into hard problems with addition of more variables. I think Constraint Programming should be added to the map.
