This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Shivam Mishra this was my method of sst .

I Focussed 90% of my attention on geography and history (30 questions out of 40 will be from these 2 ) . I Used To make questions and answers from each chapter of these two subjects and write them in a notebook (i remembered that i made 105 questions and answers from the chapter french revolution and about 150 from novels chapter) . i revised that notebook periodically in the last 3 weeks before the exam . one week before the exam i started studying biology , civics and economics because i had covered all other subjects quite well . Because of this scored full marks in geography, physics, economics and chemistry in ntse. just you need study sst although you dont but you have to study if you want to crack ntse.

shivam mishra - 5 years, 4 months ago

@Shivam Mishra Thats not at all required. Just go through NCERT Of 9th class and practice some good quality problems from A nice book like mtg NTSE Explorer or TMH Ntse book or the one provided by resonance is also good

Samarth Agarwal - 6 years, 2 months ago

First of all i would congratulate you for your 1st stage performance then since i cleared the exam last year i have something for you. Last year the part that did the trixk was Mat. Most of the students neglected mat and since the mat paper was very tough most cleared only by a small margin. So it would be good if you give 3-4 days to Mat. Now for sat preparation follow ncert very thoroughly also the questions asked in science section are very easy a single whole book reading will do. Sst part is tricky so i would advice u to go those parts only which u find easy. For the balance with 11 th u would have to give at least 1 hour per day so that u dont lag behind.Dont worry if 11 th seems tough to manage beacause u will have enough rime later on. Sorry for the long post and good luck for your exam.

@Ayush Singh I Dont remember as such . But practice previous year paper (From 2013 onwards that is 3 papers ) and papers by fiitjee (On www.mypat.in) are the best (They are much above NTSE Level but useful for preparations)

@Prakhar Bindal @Prakhar Bindal is the qualifying marks in MAT always 40%(20 marks) or it changes with respect to the difficulty level of the paper?

shivam mishra - 5 years, 2 months ago

@Shivam Mishra It is Fixed 40%. i will advice you to focus on MAT as one of my friends scored 97 marks total out of 150 (cutoff was 77) but still was not able to qualify ntse because he score 16 marks in mat!
