Hi Everyone,
I'm delighted to announce that registration is now open for the Fall 2013 Online Math Open! Thank you all for your patience.
For those of you that don't already know, the Online Math Open (OMO) is a team-based contest, where teams of up to four students are given over a week to solve 30 short-answer problems. The contest is completely free, and takes place over the Internet -- therefore, students may team up with anyone they like around the world.
This year's contest will take place from October 18 through October 29, 2013.
Starting this year, the contest itself will be hosted on internetolympiad.org. Team captains can register a team of up to four students there by clicking the link labeled "Register/Update Team". Note that, in particular, only the team captain needs to register on the website. For more information, please check the information page on our website.
We work extremely hard to ensure our questions are of the highest quality, so that even the easy problems will be interesting, non-routine, and not "just another contest problem". (You can see some of our previous problems, including discussion, in the contest section of AoPS .) We hope you enjoy this year's problems as well!
Best, The OMO Team

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Hello,Michael can I know,at what age students in USA graduated?
Students generally graduate when they are 18 or 17, although there are some who graduate early or late.

Hello all,
If anybody would like me to facilitate e-introductions between any of you, so you can coordinate OMO participation with people you only know via Brilliant, then let me know.
Instead of posting email addresses publicly here, just contact me at discussions@brilliant.org if you would like to contact someone. I will check with both parties, and then email you the contacts of people who want to be on a team with you.
Have fun!
Two questions that arise for me: 1) Is there an age-restriction on the participants? 2) How does the Team enforce the prohibition of graphing tools and such?
There is an age-restriction. It says he mustn't graduate from high school
Log in to reply
Thank you! I missed that :)
There is no way I think they can enforce the prohibition of graphic tools and such. I have graduated from school and won't be eligible for the competition. But I am participating just for fun. Would you like to team up with me, Sir?
I can't predict how much time I will have, but I would like to participate for fun as well :) Let's team up :)
Did you register a team yet?
I've had contact with the organisation and it should be no problem to participate off the record. Just add '(off-record)'in the team name.
I can ask a friend of mine to join in as well :)
For now, I have registered with name 'ICE(off record)'; it can be changed anytime.
Sure, ask your friend to join as well. It would be nice.

Should you need to contact me, my email is listed on my profile page :)
How to submit the answers..? How will be the interface..???
read the website.
Four members are not a requirement; I believe there have been teams in the past with only one person. Obviously, however, he is at a clear disadvantage.
Hi AkshajK! and anyone want to team with me?
Hey there AK! Just wanted to know, are you a problem writer?
No he is not.
I'm reading questions from past competitions and I have to say, they are quite impressive. Really. I certainly will be signing up; thanks for introducing me to this Akshaj.
Can you give the link from where you're reading the past questions? It would be easier to not have to go through the whole website searching for the past questions.
there's a whole tab to past problems.
darn AK you don't run this contest :P
anyways, I have a team with (Kevin C. (lucylai) and some other people. Hi ahan, willcui, and chao

Is it necessary that there must be four members? Can we have a team of two persons?
"up to four students"
Pretty self-explanatory? Basically, no, you don't need four students. I once participated alone.

Ah well, my bad. Thank you Ivan! :)

Could someone tell me how the rules are implemented ?
Hi Akshaj! (on a team with Pratik R. (bharatputra) and David W. (crastybow))
can i join a team? who has free slots? thanks
I have a question. What if the high school system is different from country to country for example, here in the philippines, I graduated high school last SY2012-2013, but the high school system is from 1st-4th year only.
Hi everyone! I am from S-shaped Vietnam. Is there anyone would like to join me?

this will be simultaneously fun and interesting.
I didn't know this existed until I read this, I am creating a team with some of my classmates, thankyou for introducing this to me
can we participate indivisually? what is the age restriction?
Yes, you can participate individually (or have a team of 1 person) if you want to. Students must not have graduated from college.
Who wants to team up with me?
Interesting but i have my examinations to take care of.-SMOJ
Do the team members, which we choose, also need to have their accounts on NIMO...?????
Only the team leader needs to have an account.
Let me see if I understood correctly: During the competition i can enter as many times as i want to the web page and see the problems? I mean, if I open problem number one, that doesn't means that i'm forced to answer it at that specific moment, right?
You receive all problems at the beginning of the competition. You can submit any answers as many times as you want during the week, and your most recent submissions for each problem are graded at the end of the competition. No feedback about whether your answer is right will be provided until the submission period is over.
sorry, but could you please specify the requirements for registering contest?
Registration information and rules are here: http://internetolympiad.org/pages/14-omo_info Teams of up to 4 students should register under the account of one team captain.
