Partial differential equations (PDE)

I would like to know more about to solve PDE; however, I don't know where could I find a book to study a better content... I mean, I have searched on internet and I found out a book called "WalterA.Strauss-Partialdifferentialequations_anintroduction-Wiley(1992)". I don't know if this book has a good content and if there are some content missing. Maybe this website may have something else regarding to it.

I would be thankful if may be possible someone to give an advise related to PDE.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Hi Fernando -

That's the book I used in college. It was definitely sufficient for the class's purpose. Unfortunately, I don't have enough exposure to the field or other books on the topic to know if it skipped fundamental material, or if there's a better text to start with. It does seem fairly widely used.

Amazon reviews seem to be pretty mixed between very high rating and very low rating. I don't remember being put off by the writing style, but many seem to have been. There's certainly texts which are less expensive and higher rated on Amazon, so maybe it's worth a shot to try something else?

Thanks Daniel, I found another one called, Boyce Diprima. I am studying by the both books. I will check out something else on Amazon as you said.
