Physics Books.

Hello everyone.

I am very much interested in physics (particularly mechanics). I do not attend any coaching and I study mainly through internet and by my self. Can you guys tell me the name of some good physics book. I have some popular books like Resnic Halliday and HC Verma. These books are very helpful but there are some concepts (or tricks) that help us to solve very difficult problems easily which are not discussed in these books.

For eg--concept of pseodo force, rigid body theorems,IAOR and reduced mass concept are not discussed in these books.

Could you please tell me the name of book in which there concepts are discussed. Thanks in advance.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

You will not find it satisfactory but in coaching institutes these concepts are well discussed.

But you can learn these concepts from the net.

Thank you Ronak. I like your mechanics problem very much. Thank you for posting them. I have learned rigid body theorems,IAOR and reduced mass concept from your problem like this and this.

I request you , @David Mattingly , @josh silverman , @jatin yadav @DEEPANSHU GUPTA to share notes on these concepts.

@Satvik Pandey well Bro as Ronak Told you That in coaching institutes these concepts are discussed in deep . . But even you can also do better if u r not going to institute because in this way u learn concepts with your own mind and Heart and in that case it helps a lot in sharpening of your Brain...! And personally I feel u are doing good.. Best of luck..!! And also I Don't have any Theoretical Book On physics ( and I had only H.C verma and Arihant For Question Solving) ... Because I had studied concept's from my Institute..!! And also You may Take DLP( Distance learning Program ) from any coaching institute It Help's You a lot in preparing For Competitive Exams.. (Like JEE Adv) Once again I say that Best of Luck!

@Deepanshu Gupta Thank you bro for your wishes. I am in class 10 at present and I will surely join any coaching institute in class 11. :)

Happy Diwali bro. :D

@Satvik Pandey hello satvik pandey i appreciate your physics knowledge . you know me as you have commented on my static friction problem . See i want to ask you a question i too use HC vermas book but is Hallidays book necessary or it can be kept optional and in HC verma book there is no special ways explained to solve the problem like static friction and force ,how do you come to know how to see the frame to reference I am mostly very confused to set up the frame of reference. HC verma book exaplain nicely the fundamentals but numericals are not explained clearly. Due to his book i have reached till level 3 in mechanics but i am still confused about the lesson newtons law of motion in refering the forces as you explain me in my previous problem i want to diccuss with you if you have time please we cant start diccussion tommorrow 2.00 pm 22/10/2014 if you want to ,then give me a reply and if won't then tell me that

@Yogesh Ghadge Hi Yogesh.

Well I refer to HC verma for problems at the end of chapters. There are some challenging question in that book. I prefer Resnic Halliday for studying because concepts are explained quite nicely in that book.

Well I told you to solve that problem by using concept of pseudo force. These concepts are not discussed thoroughly in HC verma and Resnic Halliday. I have learned this concept through video lectures online on utube. I suggest you to refer to this lecture.

If you have any confusion feel free to ask me. I will try to sort out your confusion.
