This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

I am not sure about others but i m solving hall and knight's, fennyman and irodov.. u just need to have a little knowledge of basic mathematics like a bit of calculus, sets, inequalities, functions, etc. but u should have an excellent grip on vectors for solving physics books... Hall and knight's is self explaining book, first u read theory and then u do problems, so its not problematic.. i hope it helps..

For Arthur engles problem solving statergies , you will require mathematical circles , any number theory book , ,The Art and Craft of Problem Solving , and for geometry part of it , kiran kedalya geometry unbound will sit best.
I bought the book year ago , when i know very less things , i got frustated when i started the book , Then read all these left books (books i mentioned) and started a month before :D Now its is really pleasing to do problems from Arthur Engel''s book.
Since you are indian i recommend you Excursion in mathematics , Challenge and thrill in mathematics ( as these are easily available books) For number theory read David M bruton book ( google it , you will get all these books except challenge and thrill ,excursion on net)
Best of luck :)

Thnx dude,And by the way have u participated RMO or INMO. Or are u preparing for it....And also bruton's book would sufficient for number theory

Well this question is interesting to answer..so 1.Mathematical Circles - No prerequisites required.Nothing at all. You'll love this book i'm sure. 2.Hall and Knight - All the parts are explained thoroughly.Basic maths will do. 3.The Art and Craft of Problem Solving - I've gone through some parts of it.It ain't that tough. Don't know about the rest but my friends say that Ierdov's book requires excellent concepts in physics.
