During an exploration of mine in Wikipedia i saw this cool article talking abut Problem Solving. Then i scrolled down in this article until i saw "Common barriers to problem solving". It said:
Common barriers to problem solving are mental constructs that impede our ability to correctly solve problems. These barriers prevent people from solving problems in the most efficient manner possible. Five of the most common processes and factors that researchers have identified as barriers to problem solving are confirmation bias, mental set, functional fixedness, unnecessary constraints, and irrelevant information.
Now when i saw the explanation of those terms,it seemed to me like it made perfect sense. At least in my case when i try to solve points valued problem these are the exact barriers that dont let me solve the problem(most of the time the first three ones). Can someone tell what book should i read such that it will help pass these barriers because that is exactly what i need to step onto the next level in math and to able to compete with geniuses like Daniel Liu, Krishna Ar , Sean Ty,Pi Han Goh and so many others here. Please!!!Help!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

I'm blushing @lawrence Bush -The same is the case with me here. I can and have solved 150+ ( point) problems ONLY in Algebra and NT. I have solved only 3-4 such problems in Combinatorics and hardly 2 in Geometry :P.. (BTW,Another question- Are you and Lorenc Bushi the same?/
Sorry for the late response, and yes we are the same because i keep forgetting my password.
