Today I have noticed a significant decline in the rating of almost every problem. For example, The Three Red Squares had a rating near about 2150 yesterday and now it's rating has dropped to 1785.6. And the problems which I surely remember were of level 5 ,like, Push Hard!,Optimise The Students etc. are now Level 4. Actually I am having a hard time to find a level 5 problem. Can anyone tell me why is that happening? Is that a change meant to "increase the difficulty level" of brilliant or something like that?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

This is part of tweaks to the rating system to improve your experience.
We updated the ratings to more accurately reflect what students should be working on. The rating values have decreased across the board, with a significant decrease at the higher levels. Problems at your rating should now be challenging and interesting to you.
Levels 4 and 5 will now see much more challenging problems. We will be sharing more hard problems. For now, new problems that you can work on are Can 90% of people do better than average? and Area of an irregular pentagon.
You can also use the search function to work through our archive. Search for "." (without the quotation marks) to essentially search all problems, and then filter by Level 5 (or Level 4 too), and the topic (or tags!) that you want. The infinite scroll does go pretty far. If you have worked through all of them, great job!. For example, Algebra level 5 shows 20+ problems, even with the new ratings.
(I'd remove the decimal point in the rating. They should be rounded off to integers.)

That has really made the site more challenging and pushed it a level up. Great work. Waiting for those problems you guys are going to share.
[Thanks for the links]
I'm pleased to see that the site will have some more challenging questions but I hope some level 5 computer science questions will actually come in to existence!
Hi, I wonder if the problem has no rating at first and I solved it. Then when it got ratings will my ratings go up?

Same question, but so far as I know, I didn't got my rating up in a problem.

That's great news! Getting more challenging problems is always better.
But shouldn't the users' ratings change as well? Our ratings wouldn't be an accurate measure of our problem solving ability if they didn't change.

We updated the problem ratings scale to match the member ratings scale. There isn't a need to change both scales. Ratings are still an accurate measure of your problem solving ability.
Level 4's (and 5's) should now feel challenged by problems marked with Level 4 (and 5). For the past 2 months, they would have felt that the problems were much easier than they would have liked.

And now also the rating's are upto 1 decimal place.

Exactly.
