I've seen threads like these on other sites, and I'm always curious to know, so what is the story behind your profile picture? What is it of, and how did you choose it?
This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

The story behind my profile picture is very uninteresting. It's a picture of me. Why did I choose it? Well, when I first signed up for Brilliant, I was asked for a profile picture. At that time, I didn't have any pictures of myself. So, I quickly took a selfie with my webcam and that picture was horrible! But I used it anyway. However I made a mental note to change that picture whenever I got the chance. Months went by. Eventually I forgot about it [who cares about profile pictures when you can solve cool problems?] Then one day I thought to myself :"I'm going to change the hideous profile picture on Brilliant today!" So, I attempted a couple of selfies and all of them were horrible. So, I took the least horrible one and put it as my profile picture. And that is the picture you see today in my profile. Perhaps you can't see it because it's too small, but this picture isn't that good as well and a little blurry at places.
So there you have it. The story behind my profile picture is a desperate attempt to hide the bad photography skills I displayed when I first joined Brilliant. How did I join Brilliant? - now that's a good story...
So, how did you join Brilliant? I remember browsing AOPS when someone (a cheater) asked the community to solve a Brilliant problem for him; a minute later, I had an account.
Mine's pretty boring. I was googling around to learn calculus, and went through a website where I found an advertisement on Brilliant. However my mouse pointer slipped and I accidentally clicked the link. The appearance looked pretty attractive, so I signed up. ;)
Mursalin, how did you join Brilliant? We're dying to know. I joined when Sue called me on the telephone and told me to make an account. Not that great a story.
I joined because I looked up "hard math problems" in Google and found an article on Business Insider about the world's smartest kids (Which is totally not true), and it showed problems that were apparently supposed to be super hard that the kids had solved (even though I solved them too... Hey... Not fair!). But yeah, the problems were from Brilliant and by the way if any one happens to see that article, could that person tell me what the answer is to the problem that Dylan Toh solved because it is very difficult for me! It's the geometry one. And that's my story. As for my profile picture I looked up math on Google and just took the first cool thing I saw.
We were asked if we could send links to examples of what smart people are doing on the internet these days, so we did and just picked some smart people doing smart things on Brilliant. Somewhere between our end, and publication that got inflated to, "the smartest people on Earth." Oops.
Mine is a stodgy headshot taken by a professional photographer. She made me pose in this really weird portrait position. It was kind of like prom without a date.
Personally, mine is a picture of my greyhound dog on the day I adopted him. He is really funny because he is always running around you and sniffing you if you try to pat him or give him food. It is the same picture I use on most other online accounts I have. If you recognize it from Sporcle, (where I formerly was the person in charge of the math section, interestingly) I used it there too.
Mine is a picture from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. When I completed the game in, maybe, 2006, I used to travel around the whole county and take whole lot of beautiful pictures. This picture is of a tall tower in Las Venturas. On the right side, u can see a big face. It's actually a big and famous hotel.
Wll, I think my profile picture is pretty suggestive. I like the entire series of Harry Potter books which includes everything characters, style, story everything. But my favourite characters are Dobby and Luna.
