I am trying to promote Brilliant.org to students at Hartley College in Point-Pedro Sri Lanka. Despite Point PEdro (and Sri Lanka) being poor, there was always an ecosystem for people to be able to study. It is amazing that Hartley College and Methodist continue to produce some of the best students in the country at the GCE A/L (Grade 12) exams- even after 30 years of disruption because of the war in Sri Lanka. Being a child of teachers, this means a lot to me. Both my parents taught at Methodist and my many of parents' friends and children taught or studied in these two school.

Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Akilan,
Thanks for recommending us to others! Please email me at discussions@brilliant.org, if there is anyway we can help you, to help promote Brilliant to Sri Lankan students. Hartley, seems like a school with a lot of history. Did you attend Hartley or Methodist?

Thanks Peter. I'll certainly email you! I left for Nigeria when I was 8. My parents were teachers (Physics, Applied Maths, Pure Maths) in that town (Methodist Girls School and another less well known school). I certainly would have attended Hartley if I had lived there but life (and the civil unrest in Sri Lanka) took me on another path. Being a child of teachers, I was always connected to teachers and students in that town and to Hartley College - it was the Harvard of Point Pedro. I could also give you my (unsolicited :-) ) opinion about promoting Brilliant in Nigeria. There are lot of smart kids in Nigeria.

We would love your unsolicited opinion on how to promote in Nigeria.
And sorry about the grammatical mistakes. Normally I ask my fiancee to help me correct it but she is not here with me now :-(

Don't worry too much about it. You write as good or better than most native English speakers on Earth.

Actually I know I do :-) but I am a very careless writer. Sent you an email with my thoughts.
