Proofathon Changes

We have great news for the coming season!

Firstly, and most importantly, we are launching a new website starting 10 October 2014. We know that there have been many reports of problems with the submission form, so we will fix that with a completely new submission form. That being said, the website will include many new features. For example, we will now be offering the website in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Chinese, and Hindi to expand to a more global audience.

Secondly, we’re changing the format of the tests. Rather than tests for individual parts of each area of maths, we will just have the following tests: Algebra, Combinatorics, Geometry, Number Theory, Calculus, Spring Contest, Fall Contest, and some special themed tests like Cryptography. The reason for this is that very specific tests make for bland contests because all of the problems have similar approaches.

Finally, I’d like to announce our upcoming articles contest. The rules are simple: you write a complete article on your favorite subject in mathematics. We will pass through three rounds over the course of three months starting with the first rough draft, then the second rough draft, then the final draft round. There will be heavy feedback during each round. During the final draft round, we will post all of the articles publicly on an archive, and Proofathon users will vote on all of the articles that they like. The top three winners of the articles contest will win Proofathon t-shirts, subscriptions to Mathematica, and have their articles translated into all of the languages we offer (see above). This is a chance to share your favorite Olympiad techniques with the world and hopefully make a difference.
