Proofathon Fall Competition is FINALLY HERE!

This marks the 1 year anniversary of the Proofathon competition. Thank you everyone for staying with us for this long!

I am happy to say that the long awaited Fall Competition is finally here! Starting on Friday and ending on next Sunday (Oct. 5), be sure to sign up at Proofathon.org before you miss the chance. The last competition of the season is waiting!

Oh, did I mention that we will be having PRIZES? Yep, you heard me right. Prizes. The top 3 participants will be winning a free 1 year subscription of Mathematica. The top 5 participants will be winning a snazzy Proofathon T-shirt with your own choice of background color (Cody recommends blue or green!) And the top 10 will be winning certificates for their great achievement.

So, help us out, and make this one year anniversary a huge success! It doesn't matter what level you are, or what experience you have in proof writing. Give it a try, even if just for fun.

Be sure to thank Cody and the crew for all their hard work this season. Finally, good luck to all, and happy proofing!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Hey Daniel, I have a suggestion. What if participants were given an additional option of uploading pics of their full solution ? This would be very helpful to those who are not fluent with LaTex (I, being one of them). Your views?
