Quantum Teleportation

Hello there,

I was searching for Quantum Teleportation.

and I have actually two questions

* What does the quantum state represents?

*And why in theory, they say it is possible to teleport even molecules which isn't achieved by experiment?

I'd be happy to know more about it.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

The trouble with the word "teleportation" is that science fiction writers have hijacked it to mean something else than that quantum physicists mean by that. Quantum physicists are not making the claim that things can actually be "teleported" from point A to point B, much like what happens routinely in Star Trek movies. Instead, what's being "teleported" are quantum attributes. As a bad example, which I hope could be illustrative, let's say that I step into a quantum teleportation device that quantum physicists actually do have. I have a headache, and I feel thirsty, and I'm presently at point A. Meanwhile you are at point B, and you do not have a headache nor feel thirsty. Quantum physicists can "teleport" the attributes that I have, which is 1) having an headache, and 2) feeling thirsty, from point A to point B, so that I no longer have an headache nor feel thirsty, but YOU do. You have a headache and feel thirsty. This is what quantum physicists are able to do, as predicted by quantum theory.

I know this is a bad example, but it's a step. You first need to understand what exactly is a "quantum state", and why "attributes" are important to such things as quantum states.

Thank you so much for your reply. You gave me a great example ( not bad as you say ).

After 2 weeks of researching , asking , making conclusions and deeping my understanding a little bit of quantum teleportation. I ended up making a video in order to participate in a competition called race2space.

Sorry for recorder quality , and my fluency in English is bad. but I think it's understanble. However, This is my third year learning English. I wanted to give an example just like you. Because you inspired me so much. Thanks a lot Michael :D .
