Question about Streak

On the right corner of the Practice Section we can find our Streak, or the number of days we have been consecutively answering questions on this site. I found it interesting and I decided to answer at least one question per day to keep my streak up. The change in the color of the flame also got me curious on what the colors will be. It started with a red flame followed by an orange flame (at about 10 days streak) then a blue flame (about 15 days). I believe that today should have been my 18th day streak but to my surprise, I'm back at 1 day. Is there a limit on how long we can have our streak before it cycles back to day 1? Or maybe this is because of difference in time zones? When I thought I was answering a question for this day, I was just still answering for the day before. I'm pretty sure I have answered a question yesterday.

Anyway I still plan to answer at least one question a day. :) Thank you Brilliant!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Hi Ching,

I'm so sorry that I didn't see this until now!

There isn't a limit to how long you can keep a streak going. We the "date line" for streaks is at 4am in your timezone. You can check and change your timezone here.

Careful, your streak will restart when you change your timezone!

It seems that Brilliant is running on UTC - 4 hours. Therefore plan when you answer your question around that timing, and not your local time.

I hope some staff would clarify things. :) I don't want to lose my streak again.
