This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Is it online?(I'm not in Mumbai!)

It is not online Satvik Golechha! It is a six day residential camp, which will be held at Mumbai from May 5th to 10th. The camp charge is free (inclusive of food & stay)! The students will have to bear only the travel charges to that place! I think it takes place at Ram Ratna Vidya Mandir school! Did you visit the link I shared?

I have a certain query regarding this that I would like you to clear. Actually, the thing is that I am going to turn 16 on 9th of May, 2014 and since the program will be held during this duration, so am I eligible to enter this program which is for children from ages 13-15 ?? Also, then if I am eligible, technically, what age should I specify in the admission form for the program if I wish to enter the program ?? Also, is this a competition or a free coaching sort of thing ??

P.S.- Are you also considering joining for this program ??

Prasun Biswas, it is actually a six day residential camp, which is going to be held from 5th to 10th of May. This camp is totally free of cost (inclusive of food & stay), the students will have to bear the travel charges only! In this camp, they will teach the students a bunch of higher secondary maths and give the students separate time to think about what they've learnt and discover something on their own, which they wouldn't have learnt previously! You are turning 16 only on 9th, isn't it? But the camp starts before your birthday! So there won't be any problem for you to attend this camp! You can specify your age as 15! For this camp you will have to do the registration through your school with the recommendation of your Maths teacher and your parents will have to fill a separate Parent Consent form. There are 3 forms totally--one, to be filled by you, another to be filled by your teacher, and the last one to be filled by your teacher. You will have to take print out of the forms, fill it and send it to the specified address. If you are so interested, fill those forms and send it as soon as possible, on or before FEB 15th. Because only 100 members will be selected for that camp! Be an early bird! I too have decided to participate in this camp. Moreover, did you follow the link?--Thank you!

Yes, I followed the link and downloaded the 3 forms. Thanks for clearing the whole thing out. I just have one last question. It is obvious that if we get selected and attend the program, then we would bring our parents along with us. Now, the thing that I want to ask is whether the program will be facilitating the staying of parents/guardians of the students there or would they have to bear the accomodation costs there by themselves ???

Prasun Biswas - 7 years, 4 months ago

@Prasun Biswas Uhm..., I hope parents will not be facilitated with staying! Parents/guardians will have to take care of their accomodations, bearing the costs. The staying will only be facilitated to the students! This camp will be held at Ram Ratna Vidya Mandir School in Mumbai! How far is Kolkata from Mumbai? If it is a considerably long distance, the staying preference will be given to you!

Sanghamitra Anand - 7 years, 4 months ago

@Sanghamitra Anand Well, I looked up on Google! It says the distance is 1954.3 km. Do you think that this would be a considerably long distance for getting the staying preference ??

Prasun Biswas - 7 years, 4 months ago

@Prasun Biswas Yeah Prasun Biswas, definitely this would be a considerably long distance for getiing staying preference! So don't worry, good luck! Have you sent those forms through your school? Only 2 days are left!
