Rating

I posted a problem in Geometry recently named "I can't see!".

It stated that I was unrated in Geometry even though I have a Level 5 rating.

What's the problem?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

The rating of a posted problem has nothing to do with the rating of the author who posted it. I notice that it has been assigned an initial rating of Level 3, but it needs more solvers before Brilliant.org computes a "real" rating for it, based on the number of attempts and solvers. Give it time. But I do notice that Brilliant.org lately has been having problems with the rating not appearing at top as it should. It's a bug.

I'm trying to parse what you're saying.

"It stated that I was unrated in Geometry even though I have a Level 5 rating."
Your own level/rating will not appear on a problem. Your own level is available on the stats page, and on the profile page.

If you are referring to "the problem appears unrated", then yes that would be the case till enough people have worked on the problem for us to determine an accurate rating for it.

That refers to the level of the problem, not the user.
