This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

For a second I was trying to answer the problem that you put a screenshot of. I was like "Where's the problem? Ahh!!!". ;)

Yeah!! I too thought the same thing for a moment... xD

Prasun Biswas - 7 years, 3 months ago

yep you r right

Anand Raj - 7 years, 3 months ago

I also thought the same thing first!

Raiyun Razeen - 7 years, 3 months ago

The same thing happened with me also. You are right!

Prasad Nikam - 7 years, 3 months ago

When the Brilliant.org's user interface changed from weekly to unlimited fun...many resisted the change(including me). But now,for some reason, I try to remember why i disliked this new interface. Relative to this...i so much hate the old Brilliant.org. And then these cool new features keep coming. From the bottom of my heart....Brilliant is the best thing that has happened till now.for me. To the staff who brought this into life..'THANKS A TON'. I know my comment is not what the post asks for. But i felt like sharing this somewhere. Hope they recieve my msg :D. And yes. This feature is really awesome and REALLY helpful. Earlier after we've solved a problem, we had to scroll a lot for a new problem which somewhat(very very little) seemed like a drag. But now, WOW, its just pure fun...solve and solve and solve. I hope brilliant reaches every Math lover, and am pretty sure it will. Again, much thanks to the staff for bringing us Brilliant. I feel blessed. GOGOGO.

Really cool! I actually had an idea quite similar to this and I was about to post that as a feature request. Great job!

Mursalin Habib - 7 years, 3 months ago

Pretty good!

What would change your mind to awesome?

Well, you know me, I'll have lots of things to say about this, but for now, the Brilliant logo is off center, and pretty weird looking. I'll have more later. Like, a lot more. ;)

@Finn Hulse The simpler and shorter you make feedback, the more likely it is to be heard.

The reason the logo is "off center" is that it is a placeholder for real images on problems.

Silas Hundt Staff - 7 years, 3 months ago

@Silas Hundt Okay. Also, I think it would be better for the problems that are recommended to be about the same topic. Like when I'm hunting for Combinatorics problems, I prefer to have Combinatorics problems shown, not Electricity and Magnetism. ;)

Finn Hulse - 7 years, 3 months ago

@Silas Hundt The only thing I really dislike is not seeing the problem after I solve or get it wrong. It really irks me.

Finn Hulse - 7 years, 3 months ago

If you solve a really hard geo problem, then it may suggest that you try a really hard physics problem (2500+). However, my physics skills are obviously not good enough to solve problems that hard (though I did solve a 2350 Mechanics problem once :D)

Sam Thompson - 7 years, 3 months ago

@Sam Thompson So you'd like to only see recommended problems in the same topic? We left it wide open so that people would discover more of what is on Brilliant, but we could certainly be wrong about that...

Silas Hundt Staff - 7 years, 3 months ago

@Silas Hundt Definitely, if I solve I high-leveled NT problem and it shows me a high-level E+M problem, I won't click on it because I don't know squat about E+M. However, I do know how to solve other NT problems, so I would be more apt to click on those.

Trevor B. - 7 years, 3 months ago

@Silas Hundt Yes!

Finn Hulse - 7 years, 3 months ago

this doesn't have to do with the awesome feature that you guys added, but rather the problems that they recommend. For problems that I couldn't do right away, I often favorite them so I could come back to them afterwards. For some of the problems, however, it doesn't give me the option to favorite or reshare. An example is this one: https://brilliant.org/mathematics-problem/lopsided-ugly-inequality-2/?group=RnayKhnw6o4g

Interesting. We will fix this bug.

Silas Hundt Staff - 7 years, 3 months ago

This is a good feature. Because of it, I went on solving one problem to another and got roughly 3000 points. Thanks and please continue this feature.

Shabarish Ch - 7 years, 3 months ago

Awesome!

Michael Diao - 7 years, 3 months ago

Yes.. its very nice.. :)

Snehal Shekatkar - 7 years, 3 months ago

Extremely awesome feature....now can come up with more problems easily!!!

Aabhas Mathur - 7 years, 3 months ago

Immensely helpful feature:)

Eddie The Head - 7 years, 3 months ago

This is a very good feature. I have a question though - I can't reshare or favourite some of the older problems, like this one. Can you please look into this?

Aditya Joshi - 7 years, 3 months ago

Love it! Also, it seems to give you access to a lot more problems which is great!

Jonathan Schirmer - 7 years, 3 months ago

This is a really cool and useful feature as now it saves us time to find interesting problems on Brilliant.org. If a person sees a problem which might be difficult or easy for him/her, then he/she can easily try an easier or harder problem from this new feature. I just want to say that the Brilliant.org staff is doing a very good job in creating and developing this website and I think that the site is getting better day by day !!

Prasun Biswas - 7 years, 3 months ago

Yes,its GOOD!!!

Prasad Nikam - 7 years, 3 months ago

Love this feature - thank you so much. Very helpful in learning how to solve the original problem, too!

Test User - 7 years, 3 months ago

I like this feature because it allows me to try problems that I wouldn't find on my home screen.

Jennifer Lin - 7 years, 3 months ago

Yes I believe it is very helpful as I am able to find the problems which are very near to my level...

Prakhar Gupta - 7 years, 3 months ago

Only three words: I love it!

Math Calculus - 7 years, 3 months ago

I do like the new formatting, but next time the staff updates something, I think that it would be great if the members on the website could make suggestions to new ideas. It's kind of like how countries are built by the people. Now the idea is for the website to be built by the people. Of course, the staff are still doing a great job by making the website more fun to use every day.

Hi Robert -

Many of the features that make the current version of Brilliant great were originally suggested by people just like you who just had some feedback or thoughts and posted them or emailed them to us. Feel free to post your ideas or suggestions to #Feedback or (I think the tag is) #FeatureRequests. We read (close to) everything.
