Reports, Solutions and Comments Room (2)(2)

Rules:

11 - Language - I want to see proper English, actual emojis, emoticons (although not all the time) and other languages as well - I personally need to see Gujarati...

22 - Ideas - I want my problems shaped by you guys seeing that my ideas always has a few downsides...

33 - UKMT - If anybody want to post me UKMT problems, mention me and highlight UKMT in red - go to the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Website for more info, past papers etc.

44 - Collaboration - I want to see people working together

55 - Announcements - I will announce:

New Problems

Addition of New Rules (you guys can add too, just ask first...)

Ban (temporary - 1 hour) (if I'm not around, I ask Brilliant Mathematics to give the temporary ban)

66 - LaTeX - I need to see LaTeX in order to see numbers, solutions etc.

Enjoy!

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Can anyone argue with me on the value of 000^0

Log in to reply

I will like to see your opinions on the value...

indeterminable is not an accepted value...

Log in to reply

It's either 1,01, 0 or undefined according to what field of mathematics - BRILLIANT has posted a video about this on Youtube...

Also, this is not my opinion, this is BRILLIANT's video's opinion...

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member And may I have your opinion, with a good understandable proof, please?

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member My opinion is in alignment with BRILLIANT's video's opinion:

@A Former Brilliant Member So...

Any home made proofs on 000^0 's value?

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member No, because I'm impartial to 000^0's value.

please, in the love of lord, do not ban emoticons

slang can be banned, but not those...

examples of emoticons are: (!), =D, XD, :)

You have been given exception 11 for using the i dont know what to say emoticon

this is the reason for the ban

For a good excuse that you can make, comment back on this thread

@Yajat Shamji

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Good one. But I made the rules. Also, all the dots are actually elipses.

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Exactly!

But when I send this emoticon...

=D=D | =D

You do not agree that the emoticon means "equal to DD" (whatever D is...)

P.S.

This is a joke @Yajat Shamji

I repeat, this is a joke (though i dont think it is a good one)

Thanks for wasting your time on this comment thread...

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Good joke.

P.S. Can you teach me emoticons?

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Just post your feeling on letters

=D means you are happy, as when you turn your head till you notice the D as a smile, you get a smiley face!

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Oh. Also, did you re-read Rule 11?

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member (゜O゜)

Thanks!

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member No problem - although don't use it all the time.

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member I use it frequently.....

Though I am a lover of perfect English too...!

@A Former Brilliant Member Also, how is that an emoticon? The reason why I banned them in the first report room is because I don't know about emoticons!

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Emoticons are a substitute for emojis as they are easy to copy, and easy to use

Instead of saying...

uugh!

In texting, we use the fancy way of...

.....................................................................................

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Can you show me all of them?

P.S Read the edited Rule 11.

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member No

No one can do, it is impossible

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Is there a database of emoticons?

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Maybe, maybe not

There is a collection of one though

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Can you give me a link or a website?

Log in to reply

The motherload of all ASCII emoticons

Spend some time on there @Yajat Shamji

You will spend a lot of time there

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member I'll spend time tomorrow.

P.S. I found out about your joke as soon as you said exception - there is no exceptions (for now...)

Er...this may be just a random thought, but I just found something about 512.

512=4951-2=49

125=712-5=7 (look at it backwards)

49=7249=7^2

Can you find more numbers like that?

..............

I don't understand this comment @Sachetan Debray

Do you @Yajat Shamji?

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member I think what @Sachetan Debray is trying to say, find other numbers like 512512 that when the third digit is subtracted from the first two digits, it produces a square number and when the first digits is subtracted from the last two digits, it produces the square root of the third digit subtracted from the first two digits (i.e x2,x3x1=((x3x1,x2)2x_2, x_3 - x_1 = (\surd (x_3 - x_1, x_2)^2).

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Yeah, that's right. I tried to find more numbers like that, but it didn't work out. Its a weird thought that popped in my head last week. But I think there should be more such numbers.

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Right. I'll combine one other weird idea I had and this one

Sachetan Debray - 1 year ago

I like it, but please read Rule 66, @Sachetan Debray

Is it fine now or did I mess up again? Is this how its supposed to look?

Sachetan Debray - 1 year ago

Log in to reply

Oh, sorry @Sachetan Debray!

Do not add the inverted commas

They shouldn't be there, they should be excluded

Log in to reply

@A Former Brilliant Member Did that make any difference?Is it ok now?

Sachetan Debray - 1 year ago

@Sachetan Debray Looks great now

I'm sorry, I don't know what Latex is. Is it some sort of formatting tool? But I can't see it in the easy Math editor, although I can see it when I'm posting a problem of my own. Does it not work for comments or something?

Sachetan Debray - 1 year ago

Log in to reply

I got what it is. But I still can't find it in the formatting guide. @Yajat Shamji?

Sachetan Debray - 1 year ago

Log in to reply

I used the Math expression, but that is not Latex, as far as I can tell. Once you tell me what it is, I'll surely follow the rule. I didn't know I had to use it separately for Math, so I used the normal format.

Sachetan Debray - 1 year ago

Log in to reply

@Sachetan Debray When we are to enclose numbers with "\ (" and "\ )", we are typing in latex

We should join the stuff enclosed with inverted commas

Yes, it is a formatting tool

Great, thanks!

Hey @Yajat Shamji, I just wanted to give you an idea for a question

Refined Reflection Problems

Brilliant hasn't done well with that... On the math style

What I am trying to say is, if we were to give the centimeter measurements for the light box, and show them where the looking glass is, the question is possible without trial and error. We just have to ask the angle as the question

Log in to reply

Nice. Send me text and an animation (if possible). @Hamza Anushath

Alright, and I'll try

But before that, I have to mention...

I will also make questions on this topic

I believe that this should be a universal topic...

@A Former Brilliant Member That's fine. After all, Rule 44 is alive now...

@Mahdi Raza, @Hamza Anushath, @Brilliant Mathematics, join in but first read the rules.

Does anybody here want to join me in the search for Quadruple Mersenne Numbers? I have already found Triple Mersenne Numbers...

@Mahdi Raza , @Hamza Anushath , @Brilliant Mathematics
