  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Agent T A teeny weeny bit on springs that I just remembered

  • All springs work because of restoring forces acting on them that tend to restore the spring's configuration.
  • The restoring force is directly proportional to the displacement of the spring from its mean/equilibrium position (larger the force, larger the displacement).
  • They somewhat are related to waves (spoiler alert) but that's a really interesting topic and I don't wanna spoil the fun and will be talking about it in detail later :).

@Agent T thanks! what other kind of machines are there ? (im going to write this out so im paranoid of missing anything) you dont have to explain to much :) just listing them out would be ok :)

@Agent T I mean those simple ones I can explain in physics so yeah, that’s enough :)

How many pics can you see now? I uploaded six, but I can only see four!

@Brilliant Mathematics is there a way to enlarge the size of photos through codes? Because I find it very annoying to adjust the size of my browser every time I read this :/

Jeff Giff - 3 weeks, 3 days ago

Hi Jeff. You can adjust the image size as such:
