My experience at Vijyoshi Camp 2016!

So finally i am back from the Vijyoshi Camp 2016 held at Indian Institute of science education and research , Mohanpur , Kolkata. I Reached home yesterday at 2 am(fortunately my flight didn't got late due to fog where most of the flights were delayed). It was of course my first journey alone and i enjoyed it too. the lectures were very much enriching and motivating. We had an opportunity to listen to the greatest indian scientists who were expert in there respective fields. Also we got an opportunity to listen to Sir Michael Berry from the university of Bristol , United Kingdom who talked about optics and some of high level stuff. I Got an opportunity to meet some of my fellow brilliant members like Archit Agrawal and Prince Loomba.

Although all lectures were awesome i personally enjoyed two lectures very much

  1. CHEMISTRY IS FUN by Professor Uday Maitra (head of departement of Organic chemistry at Indian institute of science , Bengaluru , India). He told about the wonders of chemistry by performing more than 8 experiments which really astonished all of us. Salt Analysis , Catalysis ,Dye's using Anthracene were some of them which really changed my perception about chemistry and made me realise how powerful chemistry can be. I Personally found it the best part of the camp.

  2. Artificial intelligent by professor P.P.Chakrabarti (Director Indian institute of Technology , Kharagpur) . He talked about wonders of computer science, Solving problems in CS,Future of CS And Much more interesting stuff including Salesman problem in CS , Telephone pole placing problem etc . I Enjoyed this lecture too much

We also had Scientific demonstrations at the last day of the camp and a cultural programme too.

The best part was the Hostel Life . People standing in queue for taking bath etc.

The Arrangement done by IISER Kolkata was simply awesome and i feel myself fortunate that i could be the part of this camp

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Even we enjoyed the camp held here at IISc, Bangalore :p

I felt a little disappointed, because I was expecting more physics and maths in the camp. There were some minor glitches here and there, but they delivered on their sole promise , motivating students towards research. Anyone who decided to skip the camp missed a lot.

Even i expected that but it was national science camp rather than national physics maths camp :P.

Biochemistry was given a lot of weightage in terms of number lectures pertaining to this topic but neverthless we all enjoyed it

Well yeah, it was pretty great, especially the campus, where me and my friends went out for late night strolls. So calm and peaceful. Also the lab was great, we had a guided tour by a faculty member. Wish it had gone on for a few more days...
