Sketchpad function?

Could Brilliant employ an onscreen sketchpad that can draw on the problem (not permanently) to help show work and stuff like that? I was just working on a couple of geometry problems, and I realized that an immensely powerful tool would be a sketchpad widget/function thing! One of the best ways to solve geometry problems, and any type of problems for that matter, is to mark up the diagram and the problem. Another creative idea would be a built in Geometer's Sketchpad for Brilliant for problem-writers. It would be yet another factor to set Brilliant apart from all other online math websites. Tell me what you guys think! :D

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

I endorse this.

Kinda of like the sketchpad that can be found on Khan Academy, right?

Exactly like that! Especially the line-striaghtening feature! :D

I would like this.

yaa.... It could also be there on the problem creating part so that we need not insert paint files.... saves a lot of time- specially the time for searching the paper and pen!

I myself use a type of math typesetting called Asymptote Vector Graphics Language. However, it is like learning a whole new CS language, so do it only if you're up to it!

@Daniel Liu oh..okk. I'll check it out.

I think a standardized math sketchpad would a great thing for Brilliant to have. Some of the hardest geometry problems I've seen here were actually drawn on ruled paper with a pencil and a picture of it uploaded. I end up having to do a lot of squinting.

Yeah, but I'm talking about for problem-solvers, not just writers. Of course, that would be another aspect/advantage. :D

Great idea Finn Hulse this would be brilliant!
