solving equations

i want to know how do we exactly solve a cubic or quartic equation. by solving here i mean taking out the roots of the equation(weather real or complex)and is there any other formula other than Vietas formula to solve the cubic and the quartic equations

You can use that to get the roots of a quadratic equation.
