Something that makes Brilliant.org more communicative

Hi all!

Sometimes, the same note/problem/set just fill up my homepage! So, I am thinking if we can make it better...

One suggestion I have is, when we share a problem/note/set, we can include some comments on why we share the problems. For example, I will share Odd mean with the comment "Hehe, try not just summing it up". The comments will appear on top of the problem that is re-shared. Then, we will not just see many same problems over and over but will know what other thinks about it. This will make a great advertisement on problems especially those without ratings.Of course, you can leave the comment box blank.

However, with this system, it is normal for someone to leave a comment that give some hints on how to solve the problem. For example, the comment "Never thought that an algebra problem has a geometric approach!" will give a hint for others that the problem can be solved by Geometric Interpretation. So, if most of us don't agree on giving hints, this system should not be implemented. Furthermore, some users may comment the answer of the problem. So, this system is also very risky...

What do you think? Comment below!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

We now de-duplicate items on our servers which means less data needs to be transferred to your computer so everyone should get the benefits of the javascript snippet in a more efficient manner.

Check out this note of mine!!

I disagree with this, since I would think some people would just write the answer down. The system is pretty risky to use.
