[Staff Post] New commenting structure and some posting guidelines

As some of you may have noticed, we have now implemented the ability for all of you to reply directly to a comment. It works much like Reddit. You can also still post a comment directly to the original post. This can allow multiple conversations in one thread and hopefully make addressing people easier. There is currently a minor bug in the implementation where the order of the comments on old discussions has been scrambled. I will be reordering them over the next couple of days to try to preserve the previous flow of conversation.
A few things I would like to address:
Voting: To the left of each discussion post is an arrow that you can click which registers an up-vote. The order of the discussions on the page is determined by an algorithm that takes into account the recency of the post and how many votes it has received, new popular posts sit at the top, while older or less popular ones recede to the back. In general, up-vote the discussions that you find the most interesting and believe should be at the top of the page. Comment voting also works the same way, the most popular comment threads will sit at the top of the discussion, though comment voting will not dislocate replies from the comments they originally adressed.
Procedural/logistical questions:Most procedural questions about Brilliant can be answered at support@brilliant.org. This forum is more than a place where you ask questions about Brilliant that the staff answer. The point of this forum is to be a place where all of you can talk to each other. Do not be afraid to post any thought, question, or idea that you think is fascinating or worth sharing.
Language: Not all of you are native English speakers. That is a great thing. It is a testament to the variety of people and perspectives this forum gathers. If you struggle with English, be brave and post. Offer your opinion. Expect that if others on the forum cannot understand you, we will ask for clarity. Through multiple attempts we can all generally form an understanding and the discourse can proceed
Titling Posts: When you title a discussion post, you should phrase it in a grammatically correct way that announces exactly what a person will find if they click on it. You might have noticed that I alter post titles after you post them. Your topic is more likely to be discussed if more people click on it. Sometimes, I adjust titles in an attempt to advertise your post better. A convention we would like to institute is that all posts that deal with questions or suggestions to Brilliant be prefaced with either a [Feature Request] or an [Ask Brilliant]. This helps visually alert people who are browsing what kind of discussion you have posted.
Formatting: Be sure and browse the formatting guidelines available below the box that you enter a new discussion into. They tell you many useful things. Beyond help with LaTex, they tell you how to make things bold, italic, form points and lists, and also make text link directly to a website.
Ethics: Aside from not posting your homework, we ask that all of you refrain from using this forum to cheat on either tests or competitions. Additionally, if you post content that is sourced word for word from other material, please provide either a citation or a link.
Conduct: Please be respectful of the fact that this is a diverse community that encompasses users of a variety of skills and abilities. Please do not condescend to each other. Even if you are right, putting down others is never productive. When in doubt, be nice.

Easy Math Editor
This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

sir can you put up a page on the website for user-contributed problems? like a form or something, where we write the question, and click submit not for getting solutions, but just to submit good questions

It depends on what you mean by "just to submit good questions".
You can submit original problems to us, along with the solutions. We will attribute your name to the problem when used.
If you're referring to creating a discussion page for problems, my current preference would be to create an individual page for each problem.

Will the student who submitted the problem be given extra points?
I want the Brilliant Challenges to allow users 3 tries for getting points, but after those 3 tries are over, please tell us the answer or at least let us keep trying, just in case we get the answer later. You don't have to award us with points, but please let us have the satisfaction of trying a question more than 3 times and getting the answer on the same day, and not the next week.
