This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science
related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should
explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments
should further the discussion of math and science.
When posting on Brilliant:
Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Suyeon Khim That's okay, but what about being able to know our rating in different topics? Are the ratings fixed, or they're still shifting invisibly?
@Satvik Golechha
–
I Believe ratings are shifting invisibly cos I leveled down y'day after solving a calc problem in practice section wrongly & leveled up again 2day after getting that right !
@Satvik Golechha
–
They're still shifting. You'll be able to see them again at some point, we haven't had a chance yet to add them back into the interface.

@Suyeon Khim Thanks..... BTW I have another suggestion. I think 100 points is too much for an unrated problem, because that means the starting of level 4. Most of the posted problems either remain unrated, or get an average of lvl2 rating. So my point is that for unrated problems, the points awarded should be decreased.

We want lots of people to take a chance on doing the unrated problems, so that they do become rated for the rest of the community! Our way of motivating that behavior is by awarding many points to those brave users.
@Suyeon Khim

Oh! Thanks. But if I solve an unrated problem which later gets rated, then it will not contribute to my rating.... can anything be done?

Yes, those are not very active tags currently. When tags become active as members contribute posts into them, we make them into official topics.

@Suyeon Khim Can we please get an official Chemistry level and rating?
Log in to reply
Hi Satvik, this will likely happen eventually, but we're not expecting to add levels to Chemistry this summer.

I was thinking of quantum mechanics and thermal physics.

You can tag your problems #QuantumMechanics and #ThermalPhysics, and then they will show up at https://brilliant.org/tags/quantummechanics/ and https://brilliant.org/tags/thermalphysics/. You can add these to your homepage sidebar for easy access by clicking "Add to My Topics" on those pages.
