Very recently Brilliant has changed the way our mini-profiles [the short profiles you see when hover your mouse over someone's name] look. The new mini-profile has a compact-look that I quite like. However, I'm not a fan of the removal of user-statuses from there.
I thought it was really cool that you could see a person's status by hovering the mouse over their name. You can't do that anymore. The feature of adding a status is still there. But you have to go visit someone's profile to see their status and that seems like a lot of work.
Let's not forget how statuses helped us in the past. Remember when Calvin Lin's status said that this problem had a really short solution using complex numbers? And how about Sreejato's humorous status - "The answer to this week's 300 point algebra problem is X such that X(X-1)(X-2)...(X-999)=0"?
Statuses are undoubtedly not the biggest feature on Brilliant. But they are certainly a nice feature. If statuses aren't there on the mini-profiles, they become almost pointless. If you don't show them, why even keep the status-feature around?
I know this is not the most important thing in the world to discuss about. But it'd be nice to include people's statuses on their mini-profile and save the status-feature from getting obsolete.

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Good point – thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I agree. Statuses give meaning and humour to people about other people.
I could not agree more!
You're totally right @Mursalin Habib —we're going to correct this soon.
Ew, I just saw the new thing when you hover over someone's profile and I can say that I don't like it at all. The old way fit a lot better with people's profiles, and I like reading people's statuses. I don't use mine for this, but some people, like Cody Johnson and Yan Yau Cheng, use their statuses to talk about really amazing things that can be really great for lots of Brilliantics, such as Proofathon and JOMO, respectively. Now since the statuses are gone, you can't see that. I like the old version a lot better than this.
And as @Mursalin Habib said, other people have really funny statuses, like Sreejato did.

I think the two can coexist, statuses and the cool new method for displaying profiles. :D
