Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

I don't know anything about entrance exams in India. Sorry. Are they hard and competitive?

As India's population is gross, competition has reached to such a high level, that children have to attempt 3-4 times to clear a particular exam.
JEE Advanced is the 3rd hardest exam in the world rest you can imagine.
to my knowledge, iit jee is rated as one of the toughest competative exam written by students entering engineering colleges
Over 5-7 lakh students give IIT exam and only 15000 qualify Out of which , only those students who get better than 2500 rank get good IIT's (with the subject they want)
NITs, VIT, BITS are on my preference list if i don't get into iit.
i am also preparing for iit-jee. i used to prefer H.C Verma for physics, because it solves problems conceptually. for mathematics there is no boundation . more problems you solve , your problem solving capacity will increase . but i prefer S.K. Goyal .of arihant publication. for chemistry cbse text book is very good. and you can prefer J.D. Lee. an
In physics, I will prefer "Resnick and haliday" or HC Verma for concepts and after a vast experience in problem solving try IE Irodov's problems in general physics. Don't try IE Irodov at first. In chemistry you can refer University chemistry by Bruce H Mahan for physical chemistry, JD Lee for Inorganic Chemsitry and Any good book for organic chemsitry. In maths you can try Hall and knight Higher Algebra, Plane trigonometry by SL Loney, coordinate geoemtry by SL Loney, any calculus book by arihant publications, any good book for vectors and 3d geometry, and any other good book if u prefer.
first thing i want to say that all the things will depend on your capacity ..... if you can solve the problem of i.e irodov then it will be very beneficial but if not then you can prefer any institute's study material............the practice of more and more question will be very beneficial.................
That sounds like a really intense test. Best of luck to all of you. In the USA the good schools are really competetitive to get into, but it never hinges on one test that is that competitive. That's intense.
I am a math teacher for the jee main and advance. you can select the books of s.n . dey and r.d. sharma for board level and for entrance level tata mac.hill or arihant with magazine mathematics today is best. for more information call me at 09051393939
