Can anyone please explain to me in a simple manner what symmetric polynomials are and what are the Newton's Identities with respect to these? If you have any good source from where i can study these, please tell me. P.S.- I do not know anything about group theory.!

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Symmetric polynomials may be those who follow some definite symmetry in there powers,,,,,,,,, Like the symmetry can be either in A.P., G.P., or other progression or series,,,,,,,,,
