Its been a really long time since I've been active on Brilliant (about 8 or 9 months). Recently, I reached 2700 followers (I had around 1500 or so when I became inactive). And since I really wont get time to post more problems and stuff, I figured it is best to post a note to all my followers who are giving the: drum roll
or any Entrance Exam in general :P
In this 'long' note, Ill be giving a few general tips and tricks regarding these exams. And since I cant possibly know all the tips, Ill be inviting some of my dear friends, who have already given this 'nerve wracking' exam, to help me out, and are currently studying with me here in IIT Bombay.
But first, Ill share with you, my experience of being in one of the institutes that many of you are competing to be in.. So that you know why you are studying so hard for it (Honestly, Im not bragging :P)
Ill start with my first day here. I was overwhelmed. I was nervous. I felt like I was in a completely different environment. I felt that I had achieved something, and that I wont have to study anymore. But will I be able to live in a hostel for 4 years? How will the seniors be like? Will they bully or rag us?
These questions came up in my mind everyday. But, after a few days, these questions had been answered.
The seniors were awesome, literally, awesome. They will take a hit on you now and then, but it is so mild that even you would feel comfortable. In fact, these casual interactions with the seniors help reduce the awkwardness while talking to them. You feel more comfortable chatting with them.
And about the hostel life. It feels awkward to talk to your wing-mates room-mates for the first weeks, but then, the way you will laugh and chat with them will amaze you. Doing random stuff and taking a video of it. Going to the mess and lectures together. Playing cards all night.
After a month, you feel that this is the best as life could get.
But,
After about 2 months, the quizzes' and the examinations' schedules arrive. And you realize something else about the life in IIT. Its also important to study.
Trust me, if you dont maintain your scores, you wont be able to enjoy the infinite amount of other activities in IIT.
And in contrast to this, don't just study all day. Enjoy what you like. Follow your hobbies that you gave up during your JEE preparation.
If you maintain a balance between studies and enjoyment (of course, enjoyment being more than studies :P), you will get the most out of IIT.
That is all the experience Im going to share, so as to not spoil everything for you.
Now onto the tips :D
Study as much as possible, but no further. Hours dont matter. The concentration with which you study ultimately determines how much you studied that day.
Eg. Studying with full concentration for an hour is more effective than just sitting and blankly looking at the book for 4 hours.
Take breaks in between. It helps refresh your mind. Stretch your legs, wash your face, and walk around a bit, then get back to the book.
Stay active physically. It has a tremendous effect on the mind.
Study from as few books as possible, which are recommended by your professors. Buying and studying from a lot of reference books doesn't make you a genius, believe me.
Study with a time-table. It may seem childish. Yours friends may tease you for it, but, its super important to learn to manage time and do stuff accordingly. This is one thing I didnt do during my preparation and I payed for it.
Dont study anything for at least 2 days before JEE. Listen to music, Talk with your parents.
During the exam, Keep Calm. I cant stress on this point enough. Its the one thing that can destroy all your hard work and effort in a flash.
Learn to leave problems that you cant solve. Its not a bad thing at all. In fact, Ive seen people who attempt each and every problem, and then regret it with their poor ranks.
Read the questions carefully first. Have a look at the marking scheme. Circle the problems that you feel that you may be able to solve, and attempt those first.
Have a good night's sleep before the exam (at least 7-8 hours).
Take your parents' blessings. They are the ones who made it possible to even attempt JEE.
And most importantly, If you dont feel confident, stand in front of a mirror and say you are confident. There is no success without motivation.
Anyways, these were some tips that worked for me, or that I feel I should have followed during my JEE preparation.
I get a lot of messages asking me for some tips regarding JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. So, I hope all your questions were answered.
If you want to ask me any other questions, feel free to message me on Facebook (And no, this is not a way to increase my number of friends :P).
Anyways, I hope you liked the post. Feel free to comment below and maybe add some tips that work for you.
Thanks a lot for reading! :D

Well written piece. Every word is true. This is difficult to find what you missed out. Being a senior, I cannot stop myself from mentioning that personal hygiene is very important. Be it pedicure, manicure, hair... and of course healthy nutritious food. Try being pure in thoughts and actions. What is there that you cannot achieve, my boy.
A really nice article to motivate us ty@Anish Puthuraya

Hey, don't worry if your Mains went bad. It happens to the best of us, and it happened to me. Could you let me know what your score was? And do you know the date for JEE-Advanced and BITSAT?
And as for good study material, I would suggest you to search and download them from scribd.com. It has a LOT of different materials from different coaching centers. Or if you like, I can share with you, my own set of Study material and Test series that I collected during my JEE times.

Thank you for sharing these things. I'm preparing for JEE-2017. I never got in contact with a guy who's really experienced being at IITs. I've sent you a request on Facebook. I'll be glad if you be my advisor on the track of preparation for IIT.
I can actually copy-paste the same post, without changing a thing!! (Except the part where you brag about your followers of course) :P
