Thank you

Hello,

I've been inactive lately on Brilliant and Slack due to other commitments, and so I've delayed posting this by a couple of weeks. But yes. This June marks a year that I've been on Brilliant :D

I first discovered Brilliant when I was stalking one of my seniors online (no shame about this :P). But I didn't expect that Brilliant would help me this much in my journey of learning in Mathematics and the Sciences. Through Brilliant, I've learnt so much that I otherwise wouldn't have if I hadn't joined this community, and Brilliant has become a reliable source for me to clarify my doubts, pose my questions, and check my understanding of new concepts. I often find myself turning to fellow community members to resolve queries I have, or help solve questions that I don't know how to do. It was through Brilliant that I've learnt the fundamentals of matrices and Calculus, and I've watched as the very first note I posted here serve as an inspiration to the mods to set up a Quantum Mechanics section under the topic of Classical Mechanics.

I've grown due to Brilliant. I'm still noob now, but I like to think that my noobness levels have decreased somewhat, albeit slightly, over the past year. As an illustration, I had no idea how to activate LaTeX when I first joined, but hey I'm (somewhat) better at it now.

And as clichéd as it sounds, a community cannot function without its people, and so I'd like to thank everyone who's contributed to this space, and in particular these people who I've had more contact with through Slack:

@Nihar Mahajan, for all the blank messages and trolling you've done - it was particularly amusing, and for suiciding with me during the finance game

@Calvin Lin, for being one of the people behind Brilliant

@Andrew Ellinor, ^ and also for putting up with my lame jokes on Slack

@Sravanth Chebrolu, for inviting me to contribute to QM wikis

@Joel Yip, for all the eggplanting/eggpanting you've done and for talking about Star Wars

@Aditya Kumar, for the football discussions

@Mehul Arora, who I remember as the person who started the :3 face on Slack

@Abhineet Nayyar, for helping me with my queries

@Vighnesh Shenoy, for being the Joker

@Xuming Liang, for inspiring me with your Liang Zelich theorem :)

and to many many other people who've entertained me and made me laugh, encouraged me, as well as the others who've done wiki discussions with me.

You guys are awesome, and here's to the journey of learning and self-discovery ahead :D

-Nicole

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

@Sravanth C. Yeah, I know. You told me that. The wiki writing process has gone down drastically since you left. :/
