The New Look

Nice new look Brilliant! I especially like the quote at the top. If I may suggest, could the Brilliant users submit famous quotes to go across the banner like that? If so, please post some below! Also, Brilliant users, what else do you like (or don't like) about the look?

  Easy Math Editor

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Glad you like it!

Everybody should feel free to offer any other feedback on the visual design in this thread.

Additionally, feel free to share your favorite math or physics quote. Our intentions for it were to assemble a bank of them and have them change on a regular basis. We would love suggestions if you have any.

Are you a staff? Can I ask one feature : user statistic. See my previous comment for this discussion. Big thanks

Ismail Sunni - 8 years ago

I like it also. Simple and awesome.

If I could ask one feature, I will ask for user statistic. For example, this week I solved X problems and got Y points, wrong answer Z times, and so on. A graph will be great of course.

I like the last one the best:

The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple. ~S. Gudder

Go down deep enough into anything and you will find mathematics. ~Dean Schlicter

Mathematics is not a careful march down a well-cleared highway, but a journey into a strange wilderness, where the explorers often get lost. Rigour should be a signal to the historian that the maps have been made, and the real explorers have gone elsewhere. ~W.S. Anglin

Mathematics is the supreme judge; from its decisions there is no appeal. ~Tobias Dantzig As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality. ~Albert Einstein, Sidelights on Relativity

A mathematician is a device for turning coffee into theorems. ~Paul Erdos

The new look is quite cool, & standard... In the solutions page, you may (as it might be convenient to add tabs for problems sets for different weeks,& then under the tabs problems as in the current Solutions tab)... I know that design is a dynamic change, but i think this could be quite helpful in referring solutions...

I also like the new look. :)

Really eye catching the Brilliant's design. I like it very much.. :))

This one is good to put on the top of the homepage of brilliant, please put it on sometime later. :)

The new look is really awesome, obviously better than the last one. Really good. I just have a query, that whenever I go in the technique section, and when I want to unlock new problems, and when I share the link, and my friends clicks it, we don't get those questions! It's a bit disappointing, hope you fix it soon! Other things, BRILLIANT is perfect!

"The saddest part of all this “reform” are the attempts to “make math interesting” and “relevant to kids’ lives.” You don’t need to make math interesting — it’ s already more interesting than we can handle! And the glory of it is its complete irrelevance to our lives. That’s why it’s so fun!" - Paul Lockheart
