This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

Hi Bhargav,

We currently do not allowing the editing of solutions after you submit them. If you notice that you made an error either in your reasoning or in exposition, feel free to acknowledge it in a comment. We restrict editing of solutions to preserve the experience of submitting a solution to be limited to only expressing what you used to solve it. Rather than letting people change their solutions after submitting them, we would rather you talk about the the things you notice about your own method after seeing others as opposed to editing your original solution.

What if we made a typo or something similar? It would be great if we would be allowed to edit our solution up to a certain number of characters has changed, or something. I accidentally wrote \geq rather than >> in one of my solutions, I'd be really happy if I could fix it.

As a suggestion, could you atleast place the "Edit" and "Continue" buttons at some separation (like one on the left and one on the right) while previewing.

I clicked the "Continue" button instead of the "Edit" one and now I have to keep my incomplete solution as "Private".
