This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

When posting on Brilliant:

  • Use the emojis to react to an explanation, whether you're congratulating a job well done , or just really confused .
  • Ask specific questions about the challenge or the steps in somebody's explanation. Well-posed questions can add a lot to the discussion, but posting "I don't understand!" doesn't help anyone.
  • Try to contribute something new to the discussion, whether it is an extension, generalization or other idea related to the challenge.
  • Stay on topic — we're all here to learn more about math and science, not to hear about your favorite get-rich-quick scheme or current world events.

Comments

The first statement gives us that the largest angle is of 90 90^{\circ} The second statement gives us the smallest angle to be 22.522.5^{\circ}. So the angles are 90 90^{\circ}, 22.522.5^{\circ} , 67.567.5^{\circ}

Let largest angle be 4x4x

then smallest angle = 1/4 of largest angle = xx

Therefore, middle (or third) angle should be --> 180(4x+x)=1805x180 - (4x +x) = 180 - 5x

But the first statement says that sum of two angles = largest angle

=> x+(1805x)=4xx + (180 - 5x) = 4x

=> x=22.5x = 22.5 ^ \circ

So the angles are --> 90,67.5,22.590 ^ \circ , 67.5 ^ \circ , 22.5 ^ \circ

Let the largest angle be 4x4x

Then, it says that the smallest angle is 14\frac {1}{4} of the largest angle which would be xx

So, the last angle would be 4xx=3x4x-x=3x

Lets make it as 4x+3x+x=1808x=1804x+3x+x=180\Rightarrow8x=180 So, x=22.5x=22.5, 3x=67.53x=67.5, and 4x=904x=90
