☺ To put it verbally: the difference of the squares of two numbers is equal to the difference of these numbers times their sum.
X² - Y² = ( X + Y ) . ( X - Y)
EXECİSE: x² - y²=30 x + y = 6 IF X - Y = ? What are the consequence x² - y² = (x + y) . (x - y) 30 = 6 . (x - y) 30 = 6 . 5 ( x - y ) = 5
☺I made such a statement because most of you probably understood, but as I said before, you may have forgotten☺

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

A little tip for better formatting ;)
use backslash, opening bracket to begin a formatted equation and backslash, closing bracket to end an equation. Inside the brackets you can put Latex-code. Learning Latex is always good for the future life (especially when you like math)
for example "X^2-Y^2=\left(X+Y\right) \cdot \left(X-Y\right)" will look like X2−Y2=(X+Y)⋅(X−Y)
use "\cdot" as multiplication sign otherwise you cannot distinguish between multiplication and decimal points.
for example "5 \cdot 3" will look like 5⋅3 while "5 . 3" will look like 5.3
And don't worry, there are programs out there that can convert equations into Latex-code.
