I am new to this site. Just one week old today. Don't know if it is any issue to be discussed or not but one question is bothering me. Ain't it a bit weird that geometry and combinatorics both in the same category? It seemed so to me. Shouldn't these two be in separate categories? Suppose I am capable of level 4 in combinatorics but of level 2 in geometry. And suppose altogether they will give me level 3. Will level 3 problems be that much helpful in learning? I suppose not. I think I should get level 4 questions about combinatorics and level 2 questions about geometry. What do you think?

This discussion board is a place to discuss our Daily Challenges and the math and science related to those challenges. Explanations are more than just a solution — they should explain the steps and thinking strategies that you used to obtain the solution. Comments should further the discussion of math and science.

Taufique - you mean to say that brilliant should introduce separate category for each topic, which is completely not possible.

Why not?

That's not possible.... by the way why do you want different category for each topic. You can simply go to geometry and combinatorics section and just solve those weekly problems. What's the need for different categories.

I see your point. There is, however, one problem. All the categories at Brilliant - number theory, algebra, geometry, combinatorics - have subcategories. And sometimes the sub-categories are really different from one another. Let's assume, you're insanely good at on aspect of geometry and no-so-good at another aspect. So, according to you, you should have a low level on the second sub-category while having a really high level on the first. So geometry should be sub-divided. Keep in mind that up to this point, we've discussed only about you. If we take everyone into consideration, it is not impossible that we have to sub-divide every category into a LOT of sub-categories. So if you have problems with geometry and combinatorics being on the same category, you're going to have to deal with it yourself and eventually balance yourself out.
yeah i agree with u.the topics can be divided
Panda Sucks. That's why :v
